Uh...of course I kicked his ass all over the place, and not just against the CPU

40. Unlike other characters, he was mainly kicks and punches...very one dimensional
had one reversal ( punch reversal )? I think that's what it was, but to me it just wasn't exciting to play him because he just didn't have much of an arsenal ( that's the best word, I think to describe this) at his disposal. He just.......punched! and kicked! Yeah, he had that cheesy spin-kick, but that's about it.

47. He has both kick/punch reveresal
as for he just punched and kicked...isn't that what they all do, basically?

:hide:

:D

He has quite a bit in his arsenal, hmmm I believe I use around 13 differing moves that are considered special moves for him, beyond just LP, RP, LK, RK.

But, different strokes for different folks...:D

One of the main reasons why I liked Tekken so much, was the side stepping, and side throws/back throws that could be done.

put the kibosh to 10 hit, or linking combo's....my brother learned Lei very well and would try to do his ten hit combo's, and I'd always counter...I was like, how does it feel...that you spent hours/days learning those combo's, and all I gotta do is counter....

71. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!! YES!!!!!!!!!!!! Isn't that a great feeling?
going against a heavy hitter like that and turning it back on them? I know players who like learning Lei, but Lei leaves himself open WAY TOO MUCH for hits after his initial moves....and that's what sucks about him. You REALLY have to master that kind of fighting style to be comfortable enough with it so you can recover. I STILL haven't fought a Lei player who can recover after I sweep them off the floor with a Ali Kicks from King.....if you're playing against a tough CPU Lei...just use King and his Ali Kicks. No Problemo!!!!!!! Get the fucker OFF the ground, for a change!

72. That was another reason why I liked using King
he could finally counter something, kicks...

With King, I'm all about linking throws...I was dissapointed with Tekken 5, cause they made it easier to break the link moves...I hate it, that you have to do everything right, to make it work...now all your opponent has to do is hit his buttons a few times, and he breaks out...hogwash. :)

74. Hallejulah!!!!!! I hated that , too!
You get someone in a hold like that, and they can break free like that? BULLSHIT!!!! They are screwed in that maneuver, and you should link the following move next ( like Tekken 2 ) link after link...of course, it can be broken after SEVERE button-mashing ( which is required, playing against King ) to break free of the hold. Sure, it doesn't work all of the time.

76. Now you can counter, counters...
its getting ridiculous to a certain degree, but that issue with King and the opponent getting out of the throw, angered me, cause doing the links right/getting them down pat, took me a quite some time to learn, at least a month to get them all, and to figure ways to actually make them feasible.

80. Hey...I have to ask, but did you ever manage ( against the CPU )
to get a Half-Crab hold, STF, Power-Bomb combo out of him in one shot? The book says you can, and I think they call it a Manhattan Bomb ( at the end of the chain combo ). Clearly, I have tried this, and failed miserably...but I did get a leg-hold, neck-breaker and STF out of my combo that I performed. If done right, King is the frigging BOMB

Probably the three most annoying characters to play against in this game? Yes?

and when people use him, I pick Yoshi and sit on my sword...:D

In Tekken Tag, I know all of them....when I play people, I usually go through my list of characters, my best, through my weakest, and then I usually end up using Mokujin to give the people I'm fighting a chance. :D

30. Jin Kazama....
I hated the fact they gave him different moves in Tekken 4, but with Devil Jin in Tekken 5 they gave him his old moves back.

I play Tekken Tag Tournament the most, because they have a ton of characters, although Tekken 5 has a very good assortment of fighters.

I started with Tekken 2, where I liked Paul, and Jack 2, with Tekken 3, I totally delved into it, and came to the conclusion that for speed, counters, moves both high/low, and power...Jin was the way to go. After I mastered Jin I moved to other characters because people would get really frustrated losing to me(as Jin) numerous times....

To be honest, I haven't lost a Tekken Tag fight for at least 7yrs or so...Even longer if you count Tekken 3.

Can I ask you, how did you like Lee Chaolans character?

I have kicked EVERYONES ass with this guy.......EVERYONE, and I have pretty much mastered the character, especially the Mist Wolf reversal kick ( which is lots and lots of fun, btw.. )

I liked Paul....again, I like characters who have reversal moves because when it comes to video games I have very quick reflexes...you almost become one with the controller. That's why I like characters like Nina, King, Lee, and Paul.

I think all the characters/fighters that are predominately kick heavy are weak especially when you think about kick counters. I loved countering with Jin(and others who could counter kicks/punches), because when I first started my Tekken kick, I would get my ass handed to me by guys like Law, Baek, Hworang, etc....

Lee to me is kick heavy, basically he has his power base in kicks, which means I don't have to worry much about him punching that much...also, if memory serves, a lot of his kicks are medium/high, which means to block his attacks isn't all that hard to do either.

I remember him having a fast knee/leg snap kick, and that was, for me very hard to counter, but beyond that I would counter much of Lee's kicking...there was another move where he would sweep with his legs, and that would throw me a loop, but other than that I didn't fear much from Lee.

In my experience most of the players I went up against used kick heavy fighters, where they could use two buttons, and tap them fast as can be and do neato stuff....

Lee is in my view, the fastest fighter though, he can kick/punch with lightning speed.

68. And if you master the side-step maneuver, you pretty much master the game with him
at least, that's what I learned...the side-step L2-R2 combo...the opponent is pretty much fucked

they are prone, and as fast as Lee is he just capitalizes on that weakness...then I just follow up with those cheap low kicks of his ( Infinity combo ) the great thing about that is once you're caught in that, you can't break out of it, and he just follows up with the Silver Sting or some shit like that.

70. Yes, I'm use to that as well, but not with Lee
Edited on Sat Aug-09-08 01:07 AM by petersond
though, I've gone up against some great Eddy players who tried to use side step a lot, and I would just side step with them...and we would still be facing one another.

I couldn't remember if Lee had the infinity combo, I knew Baek and Jun did, but I know at least 1 or 2 others did as well. I use side step about 40% of the time with Jin, I think the side step is probably one of the most underused moves in Tekken, because most people really don't understand how devesating that can be, especially when you side step, and go in for a throw...side throws do damn near...what, 50% damage....I started using side step with King at first, because I had to figure different ways to get in ,and start my linking throws....

ETA:with side steps, I change L2, and R2 via the options menu, so all I have to do is hit a button and I side step, at times doing the quick up up, or down down to sidestep wasn't fast enough, or it would work right...

and Lee has the Infinity combo...the only...and BEST infinity combo in the whole fucking game

What a total bad-ass this guy is....learn him......NOBODY will beat you, trust me on this!!!!!!

After the damage the Infinity combo inflicts, you can then juggle the opponent TO DEATH with the Rave War Combo ( don't know off-hand what that is...and I don't have the book near me ) but it's a juggle move that you can follow up with pretty much as soon as you land the Infinity Combo on them....they don't have a chance in Hell to recover....or you could just program the Hit Man stance to RI,R2 ( like I do ) and hit them with a Shin-Slicer to knock them off their feet ( also pretty good damage, to boot ).

75. I never cared much for Hwoarang....all feet...that's all you had to rely on
that style actually limits your fighting boundaries quite a bit. Sure, you can keep an opponent AWAY from you at times, but when it comes to inflicting damage you really have to know what is going on and what the fuck you are doing at the time....with Hwoarang it was all about tricky kicks and stances...

very good high/low attacks, that she can mix up, and when she pops you in the air, she can do about 30percent damage, before you are able to get back on your feet again....

Plus she has halfway decent linking grabs...and she is pretty fast.

and I studied/played so much, I dreamed about playing...even when I was at work all that danced through my eyeballs was moves...

The first cheapo way I learned to put the kibosh to folks was with Paul, the hammer smash, leg kick which lifts the player up....when people would try to get up, I'd just hammer smash them back down...I have made people uber pissed at me, just using 1 move over/over again. Same with throw moves, I'd beat people just using throws....nothing makes folks madder when you don't even punch/kick them, you just throw them to death. :D

36. Ling is THE hardest character to master...but that's because most of her moves involve
complex configurations of buttons ( now I'm talking about Playstation controllers here ) it seems to me that most of her combos, while damaging, take quite a bit of time to get off compared to other characters...that just my opinion.

That's why I never chose her...she was just TOO hard to learn! Like Lea ( the cop fighter dude )

Zangief, or Ryu...hmm, I'd have to go with Ryu as my favorite of that series, although Akuma was pretty bad ass

20. they are having a Street Fighter II tournament this weekend in Austin
but i couldn't go :(

i'm pretty sure i could have ranked in the top 10

Zangief commands respect, it takes skill to play him.

I play Ryu and Guile on SFII. Depends on the opponent. Sagat and Zangief are in the top 4 best characters in SFII.

27. I think the best, is Sagat, or BIson
so many different attacks, and strong throw moves(thats why I like Zangief)

I still got my Snes, and I play SFII turbo about four days a month...its been a long time since I actually played anyone, I just beat the hell outta the cheating nintendo...:)

31. dhalsim is pretty good too
i have a friend that is crazy good with dhalsim on SFII on SNES. There is a trap he does, it is hard as hell to get out of. You have to be a superb Ryu or Guile fighter to survive.

The first time i fought him, I was like WTF?! Stop that! How the hell!? You bastard!!

63. Night Wolf
in my view was probably the best fighter in MK III a lot of different moves/specials he could do to you....

I remember the first time, he did the green reflector on me, when I was using Sub Zero, and I got myself froze when the ice bounced back at me, arrgh...the green aura messed up a lot of people.

Who needs speedy fancy characters? I like to use Kuma to brutally pound all competition, or Yoshimitsu to win through sheer annoyance.

Lee is one of the characters I've hardly spent anytime learning, cause he looked like a Baek rip off, but you have given me food for thought.

I would love to have someone beat me at this game, it would push me to be better, I've been complacent for a while. Night, :hi:

95. I managed to miss it pretty completly until I found a used copy recently.
Finally got a chance to try it out... and found that it's the only fighting game I've ever played that I'm not very good at naturally. Go figure. :P So I had to actually learn how to do it and get used to the characters. Still haven't found a favorate, although I seem to be best with one character.

Can't for the life of me remember his name right now though. :P

I'm more of a 2d Mortal Kombat and 3d Soul Calibur guy myself. Didn't like the Street Fighter series as much for 2d, didn't like Mortal Kombat in 3d as much.
