Is there anyway to get Word or a program that reads word docs on my new laptop,

without spending $150? Shareware or anything? It has Microsoft Works installed, but only for a 60-day trial. After that, I have to buy it. I would only use Word and Powerpoint, so the other programs--spreadsheet, calendar, etc--would only be taking up space. Is there a way to just get what I need cheaper than giving Bill Gates more money?
