What are your favourite 3 chord songs?
I am practicing "Wild Thing" by the Troggs right now.

You could write a whole song with only three chords , who would have thought.

1. AC/DC's whole career was basically that.
Edited on Sun Jun-15-08 11:05 PM by Ahpook

The guitar player was able to mix up 3 chords for 30 years. He always seemed to get a decent hook out of them somewhere:)

27. I have always dug that band:)
Especially the early Bon Scott.

I noticed some new bands trying to cash in on the AC/DC "thing"

It just doesn't work, does it? :)

3. And once you learn Wild Thing
you automatically know Louie Louie, which are the Two Songs Every Bar Band Must Know. The I-IV-V chord progression is the basic progression of blues, which of course means that it's the basic progression of rock. You could listen to literally thousands of blues and rock songs and pick out the I-IV-V.

Anything from the first 4 albums will do. The rest of them aren't bad either.

8. I saw ZZ Top.
They introduced themselves and said "same three guys, same three chords." Many rock songs are based on three chords.

14. virtually ever blues song ever written is three chords, as well as ...
all rock and jazz songs derived from them.

Hundreds of classic rock songs have only three chords. Where do I start?

20. The Canon in D has more than three chords.
D - A - B -F# - G - D - G - A

I've been playing the piano and reading music since 1960.

I figured out the chord sequence to the Pachelbel Canon when I heard it on the radio, before it was popular, in about 1970.

24. The most passionate, blazing, barn-burning fiddler of the 20th century.
Jacqueline du Pre, cellist, playing the Trout Quintet with her friends.
I saw her live in 1968 playing the Elgar Cello Concerto, and she absolutely burned down the house, and burned down a cello.
Subject of the movie "Hilary and Jackie". Had a very short performing career and died of MS at the age of 42. Tragic:

Jackie playing a solo "Song Without Words" by Mendelssohn, at age 15 in 1960!!!
If this kind of youthful passion doesn't move you, you're probably made of stone:
