Tonight's Beer Flight
Edited on Sat Jun-07-08 07:49 PM by Taverner
Hitachino Nest Japanese Classic Ale

Really really good! Spiced like Belgian, hopped like an IPA, dry like a Sake.

Nøgne India Pale Ale

Damn Skippy! This stuff is beautiful! Full of hops and full of bitterness - sweet but barely so.

Dale's Pale Ale

And after Japan and Norway, we land in Colorado, USA for Dale's Pale Ale. Yes, I think it would be perfect to salute the absolute perfect Pale Ale to come in a can to represent the US. Don't fear the can! This stuff is fully hopped and has a nice malt backbone. Really, it's hopped and brewed to the extent of an IPA. It should be considered such.

1. But. It. Comes. In. A. Can.
I'll have to reconsider everything that you've ever wrote about beer now, and fully expect your next beer post extolling the virtues of Old Milwaukee.

2. My friend...my friend...
Oskar Blues and Surly Brewing have found a way to have good beer come in a can. It's technology, really. Using a small, biodegradable film on the inside of cans allows the brewer to deliver a top knotch, UV free beer to the consumer.

The aluminum never touches the beer if the drinker pours immidiately into a glass.

5. Not buying it.
No, seriously. I don't think I'd be able to find it around here. I'm left with no choice but to assume that a combination of marketing and aluminum leeching into your beer has done serious neurological damage.

3. can we afford this flight?
sounds good, but i am drinking cheaper brews these days. having a leinnie summer shandy.
those hoppy beers are gonna be in short supply at your local brew pub, as will most stronger beers. all the ingredients are getting more expensive, and hops are hard to get, even. plus there is a lot of oil in beer.
prices have just exploded. the good news is, tho, bells has established another brand to get around the bill wirtz law.

so, missed you at dark lord day. that's quite a spectacle there. talked to some voters, tho, and the beer was certainly terrific.

4. Hmmm...the Hitachino and Nogne were $10 each
One was a 24 oz, and the other a 1 pt, .9 oz.

The Dales is a straight up 12 oz can for around $1.

Hard to say - the stuff never dipped below 7% - the highest being the Dales at 8%.
