1. Don't let them try to sell you something you don't need.
What's wrong with the unit?

3. It's failing....
The unit is old and while we were out side it kept turning on and off
even though we knew the temperature wasn't reached.

I called because it wasn't blowing cold air and really had no power behind the air...

I have no problem with this company, they have been servicing our AC/heat for years.
I think I knew it was going to be major.....

he is going to try to fill it with some refrigerant and see if maybe we can get through the weekend, then come next week to install the new one.

thanks

7. Hmmm... sounds like it just needs a recharge
There's a pressure sensor on there that shuts off the compresser if the downstream pressure drops too low, and that happens when when the refrigerant level is too low.

That should be all you need, unless you have a bad leak. The might be able to fix it without replacing the compressor, which is the expensive part of the whole shebang.

Good luck!

I do have AC down stairs in the main part of the house...

6. Aargh. As if you need to deal with this now.
The upside is that a new unit should buy you years of worry-free A/C.
It's going to be hot in NJ this weekend? Good for the tomatoes and corn!

8. Try to stay cool, it could be a hot one
Guess you will probably have to sleep downstairs or go out and get yourself a good fan.
