Dumb or Petty Spouse, what's your call?
My friend couldn't stay overtime at work yesterday because she had to fix dinner because her husband wouldn't/couldn't (he's a real jerk) but anyhoooo,

What was the feast?

Hamburgers.

Cheated on her with hookers for years.

Controls the money but spends loads on porno.

Puts her down, thinks he's Mr. Wonderful.

Has hit her.

Asshole would be an option, yes.

18. good lord, it sure sounds like not having him around would be much, much better.
My friend Claire used to have a real asshole for a boyfriend, he used to tell she wat fat and stupid and a bunch of other names and just generally treat her like shit so i asked why she stayed and i swear to god she said "Half a loaf is better than none". Anyhow he ended up getting arrested and he was a prison guard so he was suspended right away and then he ended up going to jail and that was the end of that but if he never got locked up i'm pretty sure Claire would have stayed with him.

4. I had a friend with a similar situation...
She was in law school, husband was a college professor. They had an 8-year-old daughter. He refused to so much as take that child out to dinner (the kid was extremely well-behaved), because he's the man, damn it, and it's not his job to, you know, FEED anything.

So she had to go home and fix them dinner. During FINALS.

Thankfully, she's in the process of divorcing that pile of crap.

8. I wonder about that too
Is OT paid or unpaid? If it's unpaid, then cooking dinner may have been a convenient excuse. Nevertheless, if she stays with this asshole, she has issues as well.

11. I didn't catch all the info about the husband
so I need to amend my original snarky post a bit, but I still stand by the overall sentiment. Since when was making excuses to get out of working OT unusual?

24. I'd call him leaveable.
Your friend is enabling this jerk's misogynistic behavior by sticking around.

If she really wants to make the marriage work, and he's willing to assist, they could try the therapy route, of course. But dumbfuck will need to sign a contract agreeing to no physical abuse or all bets are off. I know this sounds more forgiving than he's worth; but it actually worked for my parents, so I can't discredit its merit. Still, if it was me, I'd ditch the asshole like last weeks trash.

29. It's hard to keep such things a secret...
I knew far more about my dad than I ever wanted to know. At the same time, I have to admire him for changing. Many of us go through life without making an effort to tame the beast within. He was forced to, or risk losing his family; so he did what he had to do.
