PollingReport.com latest not good sign for shrub
"Considering how President Bush has performed so far, do you think he deserves to be reelected or would the country probably be better off with someone else as president?"

Deserves Reelection: (8/01) 36% down from (7/01) 42%
SomeoneElse: (8/01) 42% up from (7/01) 40%
Depends (vol.): (8/01) 13% up from (7/01) 8%
Not Sure: (8/01) 9% down from (7/01) 5%

This seems to be the only question asked. The other data in this article is a month old.

His support really was a mile wide and an inch deep.

2. Not sure why everyone is quoting this poll
The poll compares 7/03 to 8/01, 8/01 was two years ago, it's not really relevant. The poll says July 29-30, 2003, so the 7/03 data is what's most current.

6. Those numbers are from August 2001
NOT this August. The current numbers are 47 percent yes, 40 percent no.

4. my goodness and that is FOX!!
in four months down 11-points in his re-elect numbers to 36%!! that is really bad. But now the pundits will try to prop him up with encouraging economic news.

7. What "Encouraging Economic News?"
The news that companies in the next quarter are planning a 43% increase in layoffs, or the rising home mortgage rates, or the increased price of oil, or the $500 billion (and rising) deficit, or the lack/exporting of jobs?

If this is the "encouraging economic news," I would hate to see the really bad news.

If Dumbya doesn't do something to bring the economy up, all the money in the world won't prevent next year's election from becoming a down to the wire dogfight.

12. So Far, His Re-elect Numbers Have Been. . .
. . .about 6 - 8% lower than his approval rating. I would really like to see the next round of approval ratings if this is accurate.

That would bring him below 45%. I'm still predicting 42 +/-2% by Labor Day.
