any video gamers in here besides me?
Anyone in here into video games? WHat type of games do you mostly play and what systems do you own? I have the gamecube, xbox, and PS2. I'm into shooters, RPGs, and fighting games. Currently I'm hooked on kingdom hearts, manhunt, and gundam.

Quake 3
Unreal Tournament
Unreal Tournament 2003
America's Army
Return to Castle Wolfenstein

All on SuSE Linux with Nvidia-based video, so I get much better FPS ratings than Windows counterparts. :gloat:

8. so what's the best ps2 football game?
i liked the fifa soccer and tiger woods golf, but usually i find football video games pointlessly complex (i don't mind complex ... in fact i like it ... if there's a point to it) and all the action happens in such a blur that it's almost random.

any thoughts?

9. football
I play all my sports games on xbox, but on PS2, if you want a football game which isn't that complicated, go with NFL street. It's really easy to play, and it's fun too.

16. You sound like my 5 year old son! Those are his 2 favorite games.
I bet he would give you a run for your money too! He kicked my brothers butt when he came out to visit this summer.

He is destined for a career in gaming. I can sense it. :)

19. I have it, but I don't like it
I'm no good at 1st person shooters. I've tried, but I just can't get the hang of it. My bf played it all the way through, though and enjoyed it a lot.

13. God yes! ZELDA!!!
I have a Gamecube.

I'd taken about a 2 year break from videogaming, but one Saturday night in February 2003, I was at a mall near closing time. With nothing to do, I walked into an Electronics Boutique to see what was new in gaming since I'd quit. In EB was a Nintendo Gamecube demo station with the Zelda: Wind Waker demo. I played it for only ten minutes, but I left that mall with shivers literally running up and down my spine.

It made me feel like a little kid again. I felt new. It was extraordinary.

Less than two hours later, I had gone home and pre-ordered the game online. And, keep in mind, I had NOT even owned a Gamecube at that point! I'd owned an Atari, a NES, the SNES, the N64.. but no Cube. I bought my Platinum Gamecube two weeks later.

A few months later, Wind Waker was finally released. The apartment was cleaned from floor to ceiling. The pantry & fridge were filled to the brim with great junk food and easy-to-prepare meals. The surround sound system was optimized for performance. The windows in my living room were darkened. I took an entire week off from work to vacation in Hyrule with Link & Zelda; it was one of the best vacations I'd ever taken. It was my year's biggest holiday.

Now I'm playing F-Zero GX, even though most racing games bore me. There's so much to unlock, the music rocks, and it's so frickin' fast!! :)

Getting back into videogaming has made my life so much happier. It just feels natural. It's a great escape. A great hobby. I'll be humming the theme to Zelda in the nursing home 60 years from now, god willing. I don't wish this on many people: may Shiguero Miyamoto (Zelda's creator) live to be a thousand years old! :)

14. Kingdom Hearts kicked butt!
Edited on Sun Feb-15-04 10:02 PM by lovedems
I am a 36 year old mother of 4 boys who is known for taking over my kids RPG games!

If you like Kingdom Hearts, you should check out Dark Cloud.

The rest of my family are in to the "Dave Mirra, Tony Hawk, Ratchet, Jak and Daxter..."

We have a PS2 and my husband has frequent "gaming parties". Our PS2 gets more use than our toaster or microwave!

20. Consoles are great
if all you like is action games. For a strategy buff like myself there's very few choices that are worth a damn.On the PC however, choices abound...and I can still play the same games that I play on a console, usually sooner and almost always better. There's better RPG's as well(The original Baldur's Gate,Neverwinter Nights,Nox,Diablo 1 and 2,Fallout 1 and 2...though stay away from the PS2 version...it sucks).Too many consoles games are stripped down (Baldur's Gate on the PS2 is fun,but a hollow shell of the PC game).

That's not to say consoles suck. For what they do they are great.Madden 2004 is damn near the perfect game, and Final Fantasy (any number or letter) are pure fun.But I'll stick with my PC games. My PS2 doesn't get a lot of action

21. You know what I hate?
Having to fight my lousy computer to get a game to work properly. COnfigure, configure, configure.. upgrade, upgrade, upgrade, tweak, tweak, tweak.. and I have a relatively new computer! :P I'd much rather just plug the console in and play, play, play.

25. That's the best part about consoles to me
Although I have very few problems getting games to run myself I do know it's a problem for a lot of people. For me the hassle is worth the trade off for the deeper games, for others it isn't.

Both systems have advantages and disadvantages.

I own an NES, SNES, Sega Genesis, N64, Playstation, PS2, and a Gamecube...well, my parents own all except the Gamecube, which is mine. :) I'm into action/adventure/fighting style games, like Wrestling to Metroid Prime to Donkey Kong Country, for example.
