2. That's the beauty of that ending...we don't know and never will.
I go with neither, but I may be wrong.

What I do know is that both versions are kick ass movies. :)

6. I watched it again last night for the first time in many years
Excellent. I can even forgive the now-dated creature effects, because the atmosphere is evoked so effectively throughout the film that it would be petty to criticize effects that were pretty damned good and scary at the time (and in any case they still hold up pretty well).

The scene in which Brimley shoves his hand into that guy's mouth--and when we next see Brimley dragging him by his grossly stretched out face--horrifies me to this day!

A damn good film!

3. Other..
John the Baptist is giving Jesus Christ his daily briefing. He concludes by saying: "Yesterday, 3 Brazilian soldiers were killed."

"OH NO!" Jesus exclaims. "That's terrible!"

His staff sits stunned at this display of emotion, nervously watching as Jesus sits, head in hands.

Finally, Jesus looks up and says, "I know how many a brazillion is!"

I basically have nothing better to do than post this endlessly.

I'll goto bed soon.

:hi:

5. Oprah.
Seriously. Think about it.

It makes sense, especially if we allow for the truth that The Thing isn't fiction, but is actually documentary (which IMO it was; the government is all over that story trying to censor it and keep it from the population, but we know that monster exists).

9. Nice post, Lucas.
A parsec is NOT a unit of time--it is a measurement of emotional stability.
