It's nationwide: Piestewa Peak
Today The U.S. Board on Geographic Names made it national:

PHOENIX — The U.S. Board on Geographic Names voted
Thursday to officially change the name of a prominent
Phoenix mountain to Piestewa Peak to honor the first
American Indian woman to die in combat while serving in the U.S. military.

6. Yeah!
A big F*** you to the assholes who got all pissy about it when AZ first changed the name. Squaw Peak should have been retired a LONG time ago and I can think of nothing more fitting than replacing that name with Piestewa Peak (and now, I really should get into shape so I can climb it since it is essentially in my backyard)

7. My dear Ptah...
What an honorable action that is, to rename that mountain for her...

I share your sorrow at her death...

And at all the useless deaths in this war...

8. Good move, and not only because it honors a brave woman

A lot of people really don't understand the true meaning of the word "Squaw". The TRUE translation of the word......

Basically the same thing John McCain calls his wife. Not "trollop", the other one (rhymes with "punt")
