Crews Attempt To Rescue Horse From Cliff In Ohio
Crews Attempt To Rescue Horse From Cliff In Ohio
POWHATAN POINT, Oh. (KDKA) ― Rescue crews are on the scene in Ohio where a horse is stuck along the ledge of a cliff.

Officials say the horse was first seen stranded on the cliff at Powhatan Point above Route 7 late on Thursday.

Authorities tell us rescue crews were called in from as far away as Maryland to help bring the animal to safety.

Crews say they will attempt to repel down the hill, sedate the horse and lower the animal about 100 feet to the ground below with a rescue vehicle.

NesChopper 2 flew over the scene in Ohio where a horse is stuck on the ledge of a cliff.

1. This happens a lot here in SoCal, especially in the canyons.
They usually lower someone down to put a sling around the horse's midsection, and then lift it out by helicopter.

11. We have hills here you know, they cut that one back
to widen the highway below and control rock slides.

6. They're gonna repel, huh?
When that doesn't work, maybe they'll try rappelling. :)

Looking at that video, it appears the horse is following a path. I wonder if anyone has checked to see where the horse will end up if it just keeps on going...

12. That Cliff is about 10 minutes from my hometown
in Ohio. Thankfully there is no ice on the ledges now. I keep in touch with this with a news site from back home .

13. I don't particularly like horses...
But I wouldn't want to see any animal stuck in that situation.
