Does anyone know if it's cheaper to buy a guitar here and ship it overseas, or to just by it there?

Well, if I do end up in Germany, I need a guitar. I don't want to bring my electric, and I need a new acoustic anyway, so I figured I would buy one to take with me. But I'm curious, does anyone know if it's cheaper to buy the guitar here (I'm thinking Martin or low end Gibson, I'll probably try several, looking in the $400-$800 range), buy an approved case for air travel, and take it with me, or to just buy the guitar over there? I don't really know what the prices are like, especially with the tanking dollar.

Also, if anyone has any guitars in the specified range worth trying, feel free to let me know :hi:

1. There's some guy with a Strat in his pants that got it really cheap here in the US.

and then checking out Euro brands. I bet there are some good German or Spanish brands that are great.
