8. Isn't there some traditional meaning for each color?
Edited on Sat Feb-14-04 06:03 AM by Dover
Red = love/passion :loveya:
Yellow =friendship :pals:
Etc.

Not that anyone ever needs to adhere to these traditions, so long as the recipient gets the message....a rose, is a rose, is a rose. And a rose by any other name (or color) would smell as sweet.

11. Mine, too, because it is

more pure in color (or lack of color) than many of the others. But all roses, when well grown, are quite beautiful.

14. white rose -- traditional wedding presentation....
At her wedding, when she reached the end of the aisle but before she stepped to the altar, my eldest sister presented a white rose to our grandmother (paternal) in memory of our mother. I'd never known about that tradition and at 18 I didn't much care. Now I think it's kinda cool.

16. Black Roses,
White Rhythm and Blues
And somebody who cares when you lose.

As sung best by John David Souther and Don Everly, though Linda Ronstadt is no slouch.

17. "Maramalade Skies"
A gorgeous orange rose.

Normally, I'm not an orange person, but this one is one of my favorites. It or "Tamora", which is a gorgeous peach color.

Can you tell I've been shopping rose catalogs?

18. I adore the antique floribundas
Smell is EVERYTHING to me in roses. Jackson & Perkins has two new ones this year called Honey Perfume (yellow) and Heaven on Earth (looks like a cabbage rose). I can't wait to get these!

Here is a link to drool over...

20. Deep scarlet red
and pink, because my grandfather used to grow pink roses at my grandparent's house. I loved them, but pretty soon they stopped growing... because my grandfather got put into a nursing home. I miss them so much.
