What was "Your" song you danced to at your wedding?
I was just thinking about this a few minutes ago, and thought it would be interesting to see what everyone chose: we have so many diverse backgrounds, ages, etc. on here.

Ours was "Chasing Cars" by Snow Patrol.

It was funny because we were married in a courthouse that day, but I had a gig playing a wedding reception for some friends who were married on the same day, so we both went. That was a tune the band could do without me and it was a favorite for both of us so I stepped off the stage to dance with my new bride :)

Then it was tainted four years later, when my super annoying, gods-I-hated-her boss picked it as her wedding song too, even though she knew it had been mine. :eyes:

18. She was just so f'in stupid on so many levels
This was just one more transgression on a giant pile of 'em. Never met a woman who could piss off so many people without even noticing--it's like in some comedy where the character walks down the street, inadvertently causing massive amounts of destruction behind him/her, and never turning around to notice the car crashes, explosions, and personal injuries in his/her wake.

Plus she made 2 1/2 times what I did, and I did all the work, including handling all the crisis calls in the middle of the night and on weekends. But she "strategized". :eyes:

Not that I'm bitter or anything.

Edited on Thu Mar-13-08 12:57 PM by LynzM
:)

Never knew I could feel like this
Like I've never seen the sky before
I want to vanish inside your kiss
Every day I love you more and more
Listen to my heart, can you hear it sing
Telling me to give you everything
Seasons may change, winter to spring
But I love you until the end of time

Come what may
Come what may
I will love you until my dying day

Suddenly the world seems such a perfect place
Suddenly it moves with such a perfect grace
Suddenly my life doesnt't seem such a waste
It all revolves around you
And there's no mountain too high
No river too wide
Sing out this song I'll be there by your side
Storm clouds may gather
And stars may collide
But I love you until the end of time

Come what may
Come what may
I will love you until my dying day

Oh, come what may, come what may
I will love you, I will love you
Suddenly the world seems such a perfect place

71. Well, if I COULD get married
With my late partner, who was the first man I met that I would have married, it would have been "If You Ever Have Forever in Mind" by Vince Gill.

With my current partner, the second man I've known I would marry, it would be "If I Were You" by Colin Raye.

I like the song "Chasing Cars" but I always think it sounds so sad, probably because of how they used it in Grey's Anatomy.

72. "Be My Life's Companion (and You'll Never Grow Old)"
Be my life's companion, and you'll never grow old
I'll love you so much that you'll never grow old
When there's joy in livin' you just never grow old
You've got to stay young 'cause you'll never grow old
People who are lonely can be old at thirty-three
Don't let it happen to you, it didn't happen to me
Be my life's companion and you'll never grow old
You'll never grow old, no, you'll never grow old
Love and youth and happiness are yours to have and hold
Be my life's companion, and you'll never grow old
I know a man who's lonely, and he's old at thirty-three
No one wants to be - old at thirty-three
Your disposition sours like a lemon on a tree
Don't let it happen to you, and I won't let it happen to me
Be my life's companion and you'll never grow old
I'll love you so much that you'll never grow old
Love and youth and happiness are yours to have and hold
Be my life's companion and you'll never grow old
Be my life's companion and you'll never grow old
Lucille, I'll love you so much that you'll never grow old
Love and youth and happiness are yours to have and hold
Be my life's companion and you'll never grow old

Bob Hilliard (lyricist) and Milton De Lugg (composer), published in 1951.

77. We had a live Jazz Trio at our ceremony
They played hendrix's Little Wing on the way in, the kd lang version of So In Love during the ceremony. The singer nailed it! They played Chet Baker Lets Get Lost on the way out.

At the reception, our first dance was to She's No Lady by Lyle Lovett followed by Head over Feet by Alannis...

79. "I Will Always Love You"
The Dolly Parton version, not the histrionic Whitney Houston one.

The other song I really remember is "I Melt With You" by Modern English. We had a gaggle of 80s college rock babies for whom that song is a real generational anthem!

81. Have You Ever Really Loved a Woman? by Bryan Adams
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3pJoMeEg8cM

It had special significance because "Please Forgive Me" by Bryan Adams was a very important song for us

82. "One of the Best Ones" - Bruce Cockburn
Probably the only time we've ever danced to anything. We're not big dancers. But it was very nice. :loveya:

http://www.soundflavor.com/track.php?trackId=8662 (30 second clip)

"Guess I'd get along without you
If I had no choice
It's taken me this long to find you

Done a lot of getting ready for this
Some things we learn so slow
But look at you, you've got plenty behind you

There's lots of ways to hit the ground
Not many answers to be found
We're faced with mysteries profound
And this is one of the best ones

There are eight million mysteries
In the naked body
Can't even sight on some distant horizon

Like the nine billion names of God
Don't bring you any closer
To anyone you can simply set eyes on

But in the same way it's as real
Don't always recognize what I feel
But of the dancing scenes that life reveals
This is one of the best ones

Say what you will
There's no snake oil or pill
Can make love less painful or fine
There's no theatre
Even of the absurd
Can express what goes on in this meeting of hearts and minds

Guess I'd get along without you
If I had no choice
But please never make it so I have to

Paid a lot of dues to get here
And after all this life
I'm a loser if I don't live with you

There's lots of ways to hit the ground
Not many answers to be found
We're faced with mysteries profound
And this is one of the best ones"

83. THE KEEPER OF THE STARS (Tracy Byrd)
It was no accident me finding you
Someone had a hand in it
Long before we ever knew
Now I just can't believe you're in my life
Heaven's smilin' down on me
As I look at you tonight

CHORUS:
I tip my hat to the keeper of the stars
He sure knew what he was doin'
When he joined these two hearts
I hold everything
When I hold you in my arms
I've got all I'll ever need
Thanks to the keeper of the stars

Soft moonlight on your face oh how you shine
It takes my breath away
Just to look into your eyes
I know I don't deserve a treasure like you
There really are no words
To show my gratitude

REPEAT CHORUS

It was no accident me finding you
Someone had a hand in it
Long before we ever knew

My dad and I danced to "What a Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong. Nice rhythm for a box step.

90. That youtube was the only representation of the song I could find.
And I don't approve. Love my Madonna, but don't let the video and movie take away from the song.

But nonetheless, that ended up being our wedding song.
