Retirement countdown
I added this to my Web site. I can look at it, and daydream:

Of course, this assumes I really will be able to retire at 70. Still, putting it up there made it all seem more real.

1. I wish I could retire in six years
But that would require me hitting the lottery. I'm 35.

But I am planning now. I've got a 401k and I'm working hard. If I have my house paid for I might be able to do it when I'm about 60. Assuming I'm in good health, I think that would be cool.

2. You'd be ahead of me, in that case
So press on.

3. I wish you well David
I don't think anybody should be forced to work to the age of 70. People should have long retirement lives to give them time to really appreciate life and their young'uns. My grandpa retired when he was 62 and lived until he was 80. That's closer to what I'd like to see for every American. Peace.

4. I used to think I'd never be able to retire, but my wife put her foot down
And insisted that I make 70 the absolute limit, and earlier if possible.

5. Your wife sounds like a wise woman
It's about time to invest in that fishing boat, eh?

8. I can retire in 4 1/2 years.
By then it will be 34 years in the same job. That's a good thing about the working for the Federal Government, very steady.
