Just came from the Doc. I have dry eye syndrome
Here's the weird thing--I went to the doctor because my eyes just water and water, to the point that I sometimes have tears streaming down my face and I look like I'm high all the time. Just strikes me as funny that these are the symptoms of dry eye. Cuz believe me, my eyes don't seem dry to me!!

Ain't life funny?

2. Interestingly no. "Not yet" to quote my doc.

Instead we're trying something called "Bio tears", artificial tears, for now. If this doesn't help then we'll go to Restasis.

3. I liked articifical tears
My tear glands, or whatever they are called, were compromised in my left eye during neurosurgery and I used the artificial tears; they helped a lot.

That eye will tear up now but they don't spill out. It's odd.

5. My mother has
dry eye syndrome. Diagnosed several years ago. She uses OTC Systane eye drops. Has worked well for her.

6. I've got that, too.
Dr. has me on Restasis. He says my corneas look like orange peel and that I'll probably have to have corneal transplants someday. That's something nice to look forward to. :(

7. I have had that for a long time
and now I've developed something related to it.
I believe it was called Blepheritis. I have to use
something called Ocusoft towelettes each night.
When first diagnosed, it was so bad that I had to
wash my eyelids 3 times a day.

I feel like if I had even known to start doing
that earlier, I might not have developed such
a problem.

I also have to use replacement tears with
mixed success.

8. Has he discussed canicular plugs with you yet?
I had dry eye several years ago and canicular plugs made the difference. My eyes actually started overflowing tears after I got the plugs in, but adapted pretty quickly.

9. No, but I just googled this, and it sounds like a great idea.
I'm going to ask about them! Thanks!

11. Be warned there are two types -- one is completely internal.
That's the one that worked for me. The others produced a constant 'pinching' feeling. Of course, YMMV.

12. No, again. I'm beginning to think my doc went for the easy fix.
I'll do some more googling. Thanks!

13. Hi -- be careful . . .
I had a new computer and didn't realize how settings were bothering my eyes --
I woke up one morning with my lid glued to my eyeball ---
Later, I discovered I had a detached retina --- !!!

You can also pick up lighter "floaters" which stay ---

Presume the doctor will give you something --- some of the over the counter stuff is very expensive ---
I find that Collyrium, for Fresh Eyes is the least expensive and best for ME ....
I don't use it as a wash, I simply put some drops in my eyes when I sit at the computer.

If you're staring at the screen a lot --- like games, the problem can increase.

MY problems aren't necessarily what you're experiencing --- but just want to caution you to
take it seriously.

Good luck --- hope it improves!
