School cancelled due to extreme cold. Minus 30 actual temp. Windchills minus 50.

A little frost on our pumpkins here in MN.

This winter will never end.

I like the cold and all but damn... I don't think I could handle that.

2. Things don't work when it gets this cold. Garage doors, furnaces, cars, etc.

My dogs won't even venture outside for a minute. They have been holding it all day.

7. I walk to work, but my saintly BIL refuses to allow me to do so on these horrid days.

He drives across minneapolis to pick me up and drive me just a few blocks. One walk home during one cold snap, I felt like I was in a Jack London novel. I was just going to take a nap in a snow bank for a "little while". I can't decide what's worse. Getting nailed with snow like Wisconsin or enduring our bitterly cold days.

On edit: We Minnesotans are hearty stock and just take the weather we get, but sheesh, everyone is ready for this to be done.

9. Doesn't this winter seem really extra special cold? Or is it just me?

I gotta admit, I do love the extremes of the weather, but this one is really wearing me down.

13. It really isn't, compared to some we used to have.

But it's colder than it's been in the last 9-10 years. I do remember some much, much colder winters in the '70s.

10. I seem to recall one winter in the late 90's where we had negatives for nearly a month,

but I agree, this one's a toughie. At least the sun is out and the days are getting longer, but we still have the big snow dump of March to look forward to. Ha.

5. There's a little frost on my arse here in MN.

Was just outside running an electric cord out to my car to plug it in so the damn thing starts tomorrow morning. The wind chill is right brisk.

6. I hate that part..the block heater. When it's this cold, you gotta get up at 3am and turn it over

and let it run for a few minutes.

8. This is a headbolt heater, I can just leave it.

No way in frozen hell am I going to haul myself out of bed and start the car at 3:00 a.m. when it's -17. Not gonna happen.

11. That's awful!! I feel for you.

We have a windchill advisory, but nothing that bad. Low of 4 below with windchills around 25 below tonight. But I'll think of you and refrain from bitching! :hug:
