That's okay. They will have to pay unemployment. In my state they can fire you for any reason they want but one has to do something really bad to not get unemployment

5. You're trying to find the silver lining...and good on you!
...but it hurt to be fired, regardless. One time I was working for a really crappy boss. I was about to go on vacation, and I went into her office and asked her to her face whether I would still have a job when I came back in 2 weeks. She assured me I would.

So of course when I came back from Jamaica, I got a phone call telling me not to bother to come into the office on Monday because I no longer worked there! Boss basically threw me under the bus to our superiors. I also collected unemployment for six months, and enjoyed my freedom--but it still got to me. It's the only job I've ever been fired from, and I still remember it. It was 1982, and I was 27 years old.

I hope you find a far better job, and remember don't take it personally. Enjoy your time, and I hope you use it to find what makes you happy!

Best,
Pink-O

8. I've been fired twice
But both times it was by choice meaning I had already made up my mind that if so and so said this or wanted me to do that then I would tell them to go f___ themselves which I did and the expected outcome happened each time.

And consulting for them sucks even worse.

17. The real reason I was fired was that they didn't want to accommodate my disability.
I'm just not sure that I can prove it. They fire me 1/2 way through my chemo treatment and I'm not sure if that's legal or not.

18. They may have done that...
about 2 jobs ago for me. I had just gotten my MS diagnosis, and all of the sudden they wanted to increase my workload.

I wasn't quite ready to do it healthy, and I had no idea what to expect as a newly-diagnosed person. I had no idea if I'd be having serious relapsing-remitting spells constantly, if I'd go nasty progressive right away, or if I'd stay benign the way I have been.

But like you, I couldn't prove it. I was miserable there anyway, so it came as a blessing when I got it. And I got the golden handshake. I sat on my butt for 4 months and didn't even have to look for a job until 5 months had passed. That was when I got on unemployment for the first time.

Don't worry, we'll both find something better, and we'll feel FABULOUS doing it.

16. See #15.
And PM me if you want more info.

My problem was not being "discreet" about my complaining. So now I don't have to worry about being discreet anymore. But I am looking for a new job, so you never know who's looking.

10. They tried sacking me at one place
I was working at poverty wages without any benefits, and working my ass off. So I wasn't happy. So they decided to let me go because I refused to work and breathe around their toxic foam maker. Then I told them I had another job. They asked if I was going to give them notice. Nope. Ha! Smugness melted.

11. This was a crap job too.
They weren't treating me very good in the 1st place. They know I'm undergoing treatment for Hep C and that I cannot possibly function that same as when I was healthy. I think this was a excuse for getting rid of me.

and I answered, " you know what, you're right"! That was years ago, and i went on to do bigger and better things at several jobs.

Hope you get your unemployment and find a job before it runs out!

19. a bad attitude?
towards co-workers? customers? both?

it must have been pretty bad, or something.

Sorry, man.

I remember having few times when a bad attitude got me in trouble.

I have to check my attitude at the door if it is bad. I still have to make amends sometimes and I don't like to have to do that.
