9. Sounds like a damn good deal to me. Where do you stand on thickness, by the way?
Mrs R likes to do pea soup so thick, you could stick a knitting needle in it, and the needle wouldn't fall over.

Is that your style too? No problem for me if not; I like both styles. A lot.

16. Nah, just some upper respiratory nasty.
I'm getting better, but my ribs hurt from all the coughing. The worst was that it was my first week of school, so I had to drag myself out of bed and go put an appearance in to avoid being dropped. The good news is that all of my classes seem promising, I really like my guitar class, and in one of my relatively lucid moments I went to the local music shop and picked out something nice to learn on.

I came home and did some research, and it seems like every review I look at says what I was told and observed myself- it's got really nice sound for an inexpensive guitar and it's put together pretty well.

It's prettiness doesn't really come through on the picture though, it has a really lovely finish and sort of a swedish modern "less is more" kind of aesthetic to it, which impressed me.

I think I'm going to go pick it up sometime this week.

20. Looks quite nice. And if it has a laminated top (think "plywood") rather than a solid
spruce top, don't worry or feel that you're getting an inferior article.

I'll tell you, even though a lot of guitar purists won't, that the strength of a plywood top can be worth more than the (slight) tonal advantage of a solid-spruce top when you're talking real-world conditions.

I always took my plywood-topped Eljer to play in conditions where I didn't want to risk damaging the expensive, handmade Yairi. And you know what? Nobody in the audience EVER said "Hey, your guitar sounds crappy."

Enjoy. Post some MP3s of your playing when you can.

17. I found a recipe
* 2 stalks celery, diced
* 1-2 carrots, diced
* 1 medium, or 2 small potatoes, peeled & diced
* 1 onion
* 3 bay leaves
* Salt and pepper to taste
* 1 tsp. marjoram
* 1/2 tsp. thyme
* 1/4 cup. fresh parsley, chopped
* 3-4 Tbsp. vinegar (red wine or white)
* 8-11 cups water
* 1 1/2 cups split-peas


and, I found out what a split pea is!

I did a search, was referred to "field pea" and there it was:

field pea
A variety of yellow or green pea grown specifically for drying. These peas are dried and usually split along a natural seam, in which case they're called split peas . Whole and split dried field peas are available packaged in supermarkets and in bulk in health-food stores. Field peas do not usually require pre-soaking before cooking. See also PEA; LEGUME.

I used soy sauce and Trader Joe's 21 seasoning salute in place of marjoram, thyme and and parsley.
