What's the oldest T-shirt that you still wear at least once a month?
Please be specific.

Mine is a 1985 yellow Adrian Belew shirt that says "ADRIAN BELEW" in (once) bright pink letters.

1. Unfortunately the old T-shirts I'd wear often
I made the mistake of wearing to work at my last job... so they all got worn out pretty quickly.

I don't think I own any t-shirts that are older than a couple years old right now.

2. A really gorgeous Batik shirt
That I got in 1999 at the Whole Earth Fair at UC Davis. Still holds up. Kind of a river forest scene. This artist is really incredible...

3. Well, none of my t-shirts have anything written on them, so I wouldn't be able
to tell which one I'm wearing at any given time. Also, they're always underneath my outer shirt anyway.

Yeah, I know, I'm a fossil.

35. Love Your Hair
I've been waiting about thirty years for mine to finish turning from Kraft caramel to silver. Seduced and abandoned from time to time by L'Oreal. Not there yet (maybe 60%?).

And I'm with you on the flannel, but I'll go for other soft, cottony things that just FEEL good.

11. a Ministry tour shirt from '91 or '92
I've got older shirts, but for some reason that was one of them that made the move with me here - I've only got maybe ten t-shirts in my apartment, which is fine by me. I'd say most of them are 5 years old, at least.... a few are definitely over 10 years old.

13. From early '70s...classic head shot of Beethoven with him holding a container of Dannon yogurt....
with the words underneath (in old German text-type lettering) saying: "This is my fifth."

I think it was a promo I got for sending in yogurt container lids or something.

High School Sports T-shirt from Elizabethtown, KY from 1980. It was given to me from a friend I met at the local community college. It has several holes in it, but I just can't bring myself to throw it away.

Very comfortable and high quality. I would LOVE to find another one. The tag say some company called "Double Bull" made it.

19. Volkswagon Bug filled with bug-eyed aliens
I get roughly ten years out of a T-shirt. A discovery I made is that they last longer if you don't put them in the dryer. I let them dry on a hanger in the closet. I think that's close to my oldest. But relegated to a winter shirt due to holes. No one can see it under all my winter gear when I'm out and about pedaling.

21. Something from 1999.
It's an old Lucky Brand Tshirt. It's dark green, and has a bulldog on it. The front is on the front and his butt is on the back.

23. My "Genuine Antique Person" Shirt
Says "Been there, done that, can't remember shit." Bought long before I turned 50, and I don't want to say how long I've had it. But now it, too, is a genuine antique.

p.s. to the lowlife in Houston who stole my glow in the dark B-52's 'Cosmic Thing' (with tour dates on back)shirt....bite me.

25. I have two freebies from 95 that I wear all the time
One is a Matador Records T that I got for free at their showcase at SXSW (Yo La Tengo headlined, one of the best shows I've ever seen)

The other is a freebie that I got for donating a pint of blood while I was still in undergrad. It's my favorite T shirt ever.

that I wear sometimes.

I still have a few t-shirts from the mid to late 80s, but I'm a bit too chubby to wear them now. (Don't blame me, I voted for Bill 'n Opus)

30. A pink t-shirt my boss gave me in 1990
It has a cartoon of a huge white cat and says, "Owner of the World's Cutest Cat." I still wear it - it's in perfect condition. Fortunately my boss had the foresight to give me a shirt large enough to adapt to my changing figure (I weigh about 50 lbs. more than I did in 1990, sadly).

31. 1980 shirt from Rush's Permanent Waves tour
Faded a lot, but the stitching hasn't given in one iota. I've got one from the Moving Pictures tour as well, 1981, although that one looks like moth food and is likely to be used to remove Turtle Wax from my car this spring.

33. I'm wearing mine right now
I have a t-shirt that dates back to my junior year in hight school...we're talking 89-90 here. It's gray with the Texas A&M logo on it. I wanted to be a veterinarian, and I lived in Texas, so that was where I wanted to go to school. I did my homework in it and slept in it every night for two years. My husband hates it, it has a hole in it now, it's nearly see through because it's been washed so many times. I don't care....it's comfy.
