3. About a billion years ago at Bolsa Chica St. Beach
It's pretty interesting to watch. I would not "hunt" them now, but I would like to see a run again.

5. HEY! I was there!
I grew up in California. My family went grunion hunting sometime in the early- to mid-1060s. Never saw grunion, though...

Wasn't Bolsa Chica State Beach referred to at that time as "Tin Can Beach" because of all the cans left there to rust? I think they cleaned it up about that time...

Remember when Ralph Story of "Ralph Story's Los Angeles" did a program on the Bolsa Chica Gun Club?

Man, it's amazing what memories grunion can conjure up...:D

10. My dear KitchenWitch!
We never hunted them, but we used to go to the Cabrillo Marine Museum for a talk, and then they would escort us to Cabrillo Beach to watch for them...

They normally come up at fairly predictable times, and we saw them run several times!

It's fascinating...

You should definitely do it!

12. I'd forgotten about the grunion runs!
We never ate them, but we'd wait until they had spawned and then help some of the stranded ones back into the water.

How will you prepare them... fried, baked?
