An American Girl in Italy - empowering or sexist?
I have always loved this picture and always thought of it as empowering. Yes, the young lady in the photo was being harassed, but it never deterred her from traveling or trying new things.

But my FIL's older girlfriend hates the photo and sees it as sexist and disparaging.

What do you think?

(I think it's funny that this print hangs in my guest bedroom - where my FIL and FIL's girlfriend have to stay when they visit.)

1. I like the photo - I've always found it really interesting.
I'd like to see her stretch out her right hand and smack the guy to her immediate right in the face (he's the one who looks most irritating, IMO). But she just looks strong, to me.

I was in Italy as a young woman (in my early 20s) and it certainly is a different experience.
