1. I live very close to a train yard and several train crossings.
The horns are really loud.

2. That sound always puts me to sleep
When I grew up we lived very close to some busy railroad tracks. I always associate the sound as soothing because there was usually a series of trains that passed by around my bed time.

I usually don't notice them much. For some reason, the horns are so much louder and the engines are whining more.
