Two neighborhood strays that were either fornicating or trying to kill each other. It was dark, so I can't be sure one way or the other.

Hey, I don't care what they do on their own time, but they were too damned loud about it for midnight on my porch steps.

Bad enough that I have to deal with my own damned cats vomiting on every square inch of carpet they can find...

A little restraint is all I ask.

But for the record, if I ever start howling while my cats and their two young kids (a physiological impossibility for at least two reasons) are trying to sleep, then I give those cats permission to thump me with a broom.

in heat have you? My younger sister's cat went into heat a time or two before she was spayed. Not only was she meowing non-stop but even though she was an indoor cat at that point, the neighborhood toms knew she was in heat and came by the house AT NIGHT..Now that was fun!
BTW- carpeting is kitty kleenex..I'm surprised you didn't know..:)

But back in high school, we had two who seemed to be in heat constantly, prior to our renovation of the plumbing.

It sounded like nightly demonic invocations, but not as subtle.
