If you saw a post with a 5 rating...would you be too jealous NOT to open it up and rate it a 4 or below?

What's the point of a 5, 4, 1, 3, or 69 if we don't know why it deserves the rating?

It's all based on the reader's current emotional state.

I do like the bit which says how many people read it. That's cool.

I don't plan on ever rating a thread. I don't think others should in any way be influenced by my opinion or thoughts based on probably my emotional stamina at the time. If I like the sound of a thread - I'll read it. The popularity thing is for those who are affected by peer pressure.

6. I don't like the idea of thread rating

and it looks like, at this point, very few people are rating threads. Hurray!!

The worst is on site like slashdot, where the moderators rate each thread. My husband complains he rarely gets more than a zero, even tho his posts are usually useful and interesting
