Too bad cassettes are no longer in use
I was going to through my tape collection trying to find something for my Mum (for whatever reason, her new car only has a tape deck. Bizarre) and I realized how awesome my tapes are.
Aha, Misfits, Cypress Hill, Bad Religion, David Bowie, Duran Duran, Kim Wilde, Erasure, Iron Maiden....
I don't even know that I have a working tape player anymore

5. My mom? Riiight!
Anything harder than Andrea Boccelli or Ronan Tynan is probably a bad move!

I always thought it was a dirty trick, swithching to CD's so we'd have to 1)Pay higher prices 2) buy new players 3) Be unable to copy from CD to CD 4)have to replace every tape with a CD 5) Not be able to jog with them.
I don't care if they sound better. They don't sound better by much and I think it's all a big racket. Soon, they'll find another kind of disc we'll have to use. Then, we'll have to go out and buy news discs and new players.......

6. The days of disks and tapes etc... are over. For better or for worse.
The digital genie is out of the bottle.

10. Ten years ago I could have read that with no problem..
Since then, I've "adjusted" mine so much it no longer even resembles shorthand. I can only read mine.

8. If you were to find one
there is software that will let you transfer those cassettes to CD. :)

11. How would one go about doing that?
I'd love to do that! I didn't think it was possible.

19. RCA output on the back of your stereo, 1/8" stereo jack input in your computer's sound card.
All you need is the right cable and some recording software.

14. It seems strange to me that a car that was new
after 2001 came with a tape deck.

13. The tape deck in my last car caught fire from excessive use...
It was the only tape player I had left- and my only place to listen to all the old cassettes. Then all the friction (or something) proved too combustible, and the whole cassette player burst into flames last year while driving home. I doused it with my soft drink- and had to endure a year of driving 'silent' ..until the rest of the car finally wore out too. True story.

And I know of no good place to find vast amounts of movies on VHS anymore.
