Poll question: Christmas trees...what kind do you have?
This year we're finally going the artificial tree route. Last year tore it for me: I bought a "fresh" tree for about $60, got it home, and damn near all the needles fell off.

2. No tree.
I don't celebrate Christmas any more than I'm familially obligated to, and I haven't got the cash to spare on a dead tree or a plastic one right now.

No, seriously. It's a great conversation starter.

5. Here's mine

It's white and it's electric. This is hard to see but it's got animals and music instruments on it. I keep it in the basement with a bag over it so all I have to do to decorate is put it on the table and plug it in :headbang: which I haven't done yet, maybe tonight I will.

6. Artificial--had one for about 30 years with a few lapses of real trees thrown in
I got my first artificial tree when I lived in the Midwest. Freezing temperatures, blowing snow and a traveling husband convinced me that it was the way to go. I later became a tree hugger and, even though I love the smell and look of the real tree, I hate to kill them. So it's artificial all the way for me!

11. You can get real, live trees
In some parts of Europe you can donate them to the church or a charitable organization when the holidays are over and they'll plant them for you. I used to get a living tree every Christmas, but none of mine lived long after transplanting - I have the proverbial "brown thumb". I wish they'd do something similar here in the states. Then maybe I'd buy one again. I'm not a Christian (but then the trees are a Pagan tradition), but I love the smell.

7. You can get a tree cutting permit for 10 bucks from the forest service
Our tree was so big it didn't fit in the house. All for 10 bucks. :)

Actually, my grandparents probably won't get one. So I'll just set up my little 3 foot fake one in my room.

17. I'm usually away at Christmas time...
so it's rare when I get a tree. When I do, I like the real trees - usually a nobel fir.

19. artificial
I grew up with real trees, but I know so many people who have had them catch fire and burn the house down that it just worries me to have a real one anymore, especially now that we are gone during the week and won't be ale to water it every day. It just makes sense to have a plastic tree now.

20. Other. I haven't put up a Christmas tree since my youngest moved
away from home. We now do the Christmas get together and dinner at my daughter's house, so I'm exempt from putting up a tree these days, although I'm sure my cat would think it was the neatest idea in the world.
