Which is the better Frankenheimer movie?
Manchurian Candidate or Seven Days In May?

I'm leaning towards Seven Days In May, if only because it doesn't feature Sinatra trying to act.

1. Lord knows, Frankie was no Burt or Kirk
But the rest of Manchurian Candidate more than makes up for him.

Think of how perfectly chilling Laurence Harvey was. And Angela Lansbury should only play villains.

It's been a wicked long time since I've seen Seven Days, but I just saw Candidate again this spring at the Wisconsin Film Festival, and it hasn't aged a day.

I guess what I'm saying is, I vote for Candidate. But I wholeheartedly recommend both films for anyone unfortunate enough never to have seen them.

2. Got To Disagree

I thought Sinatra did a very creditable job in "Manchurian Candidate." I understand they're re-doing the movie (with Denzell Washington in the Sinatra role), and I doubt it will impress me as much as the original. A true classic.....

4. Please, no
Nothing against Denzel, he's one of my favorite actors, but why would they try to remake a perfect movie.

Also, rereading my post, I now wish I'd given Frankie a little more credit. He's pretty good in Candidate, he's just not in Lancaster and Douglas' league. I'd still rather watch him act than most singers (Mariah Carey in Glitter, anyone?) any day of the week.

5. I agree, no more god damn remakes!
As for Frank, he was very good in The Man With The Golden Arm, but in Candidate he irked me at times, particularly that really tacked on romantic subplot between him and I *think* Janet Leigh. Also, the fight scene between Frank and Henry Silva was one of the worst I've ever seen. Other than those few little points, its a five star movie.
