Off the top of my head, LOTR universe would be cool, if you were living in Hobbiton. I would probably end up living in Dale near Smaug and end up being incinerated. Plus, I'll bet there is a lot of plague in Middle Earth, Tolkien didn't write about that shit.

1. I've been reading a lot of Larry Niven's 'Known Space' stuff lately
Edited on Mon Nov-26-07 05:45 PM by DarkTirade
I kind of like the whole not aging thing, plus some of the crazy flatlander styles.
Although I don't think I'd want to live on earth in that time period... a little too crowded for my taste.

4. the Simpsons' Springfield might not be bad
...evidently, you can not go to work and still have plenty of time and money to travel, plus hang out with awesome celebrities!

But after 20 years, it would probably get tiresome.

Otherwise, I'll deliver pizzas in the porn universe...

...but when WAS the last time we saw Homer at the nuke plant?

Or do they just not show that place anymore, since it was based on the Trojan plant which no longer exists.

8. Hazzard County USA.
That's the place where Bush and Cheney (Roscoe and Boss) scheme every day to harm the people. But the people (Dukes) foil their attempts at every turn. At the end of the day, the orphanage or other worthy charity gets a check and everybody goes down to the bar for bad beer and good music.

I'd like to live on Alderaan a hundred years or so before the Empire.

Ralph McQuarrie's paintings of the endless grasslands are breathtaking.

Edited to add: A planet at peace; no conflict, no weaponry, plenty of arts, education, serenity, meditation, long walks across the grasses, solitude...

With Matt Santos as his successor. Even if Arnie Vinick had been elected, I'd still consider it a very good place to live

Narnia would also be interesting

31. Definitely Pine Valley, PA
I haven't watched All My Children in a while, it used to be a thing I shared with my mom, but then she died and it wasn't the same. But soap opera life is pretty exciting. People get to go to college for two months and then inherit a company. A kid can even quit high school and be running daddy's multi-national within weeks. Everyone in town gets great paying jobs for which they are in no way qualified, but nobody WORKS. They show up to gossip or argue for five minutes but no work is ever accomplished for those million dollar paychecks. Even the people with regular jobs like nurses and doctors are only at the hospital when a friend or relative is there, otherwise they're running all over town or across the world. There are lots of scary times there, too, but usually nobody important actually dies, it's usually the bad guys who get killed off, so it seems to be a pretty safe place, too. Not much typical crime. And the best part, if you get sick of your husband, you can trade him for one of the other gorgeous guys who are always around pretty easily and quickly. So, yeah, I think Soap universe would be my choice.
