at the Malta Blue house....
Last night, as we sat down to our delicious meal, Mr MB went back to the kitchen to grab the hot sauce. I hear him ask nervously "Honey, where are the animals?" :scared:
Luna dog was at my feet. Caesar the cat was on the sideboard. Egypt the little escape artist rat terrier was missing... and the wind had blown the back door open.
My heart sank. I had taken one bite of dinner and my appetite just crumbled.
I gathered up our plates and put them away so that the other two animals would not take them down, and headed out into the darkness that is our yard and the woods that surround the house.
Egypt has taken off on us twice since we got her. Once I chased after her and managed to catch her. The other time, Mr MB and I both ventured into the woods and were out there for about 2 hours, only to give up and return to the house to make up flyers, where we found her cowering by the door. But both of these had happened during the day. This time it was different. There was no way we could venture out into the woods at night. It would truly be like seeking a needle in a haystack. :banghead:
This being thanksgiving night, I was praying for a miracle. Our cat Kobe was hit by a car right in front of our house in June. It was dark. Egypt is a 10 pound thing with barely any fur and it was 35 degrees.
We spotted a little white figure out in far corner of the yard by Kobe's grave. It was Egypt! She had not yet made it into the woods. This was our only chance to lure her home before the entire night was ruined. Mr MB approached from one direction, I from the other. I called her and she came running right for me!!! :wow:
This is a dog who has been so difficult to train and our experience from the past two times was that she would run in the opposite direction when called.
So on this Thanksgiving, we truly did have something to be thankful for. Our little baby Egypt was home, safe and sound....
