We have a ghost in the new house -- seriously!
I heard it the first time right before we moved in -- when I was upstairs painting. You hear a door open and a slow, heavy tread across the dining room -- eek! The other night we were upstairs in bed reading and heard it. The ensuing conversation:

Haruka: I'm turing on the TV.
Lostinva: Good idea.

It is a very old farmhouse... my grandmother lives in a 400-year-old house oft filled with creepiness, so I'm kinda used to it.

We didn't hear Him this weekend whne the inlaws' Lab was here.

1. Make friends with your ghost...
:hi:

We had creepiness in my childhood home, and I know for a fact that a teen died from a fall down the stairs. We used to say we had a stair ghost, and damned if I didn't fall down those stairs whenever I said it.

I love houses with spookies in them. Well, as long as they aren't aggressive spookies.

I hope they three of you live peacefully together. :hi:

But, she grew up in a home more haunted than the Amityville Horror, so this is small taters to her.

16. That one was a very active spirit.
He messed with the cats, opened doors, moved my tv set, moved a box of dishes in a cabinet that I can not reach, I saw him numerous times, and he moaned. He is attached to a license plate, my friend has the plate and they had to move the plate outside because the ghost was messing with the baby at night. He recorded someone talking in the babies room one night. They have it outside and they have shadows that stand outside the living room window and there are knocks on the door, windows and walls.

56. Was not too bad.
You kind of got used to it, then he would do something different. Like the night we were watching TV on the couch and the front door right by the TV opened about 6 inches, and my wife and I both watched the doorknob slowly turn back like someone was controlling it.

If he's walking through the dining room, he may be looking for leftovers, or goodies to eat. Or maybe he choked to death on a chicken bone.

42. that would explain any 'thump thump thump thump' sounds
and if the place smells like a bottle of Grey Goose that someone can't afford, definitely a guido ghost. Probably a young male, drank himself to death in your house during a house party, can't wait to see some lesbian action.

Hey, you posted it.

It's probably just a person who can conceal himself quite well who means no harm, yet wants to view you and your lovely betrothed living in harmony.

Tell Haruka that I like the black pair best, and that I like the way the tat on the back of her neck is perfectly in line with the tat on her lower back.

29. Update: The cat just freaked out
He looked under the basement door, then jumped two feet straight up, backed away and walked into the kitchen.

The basement is a really scary Stephen King like basement, that includes a huge room accessible through a hole in the rock wall. It has no lights on that side and even the landlord has never been in there.

70. That reminds me of a book, whose title I can't recall
about a family who moved into an old house in New York state. That "other room" in their basement was a crawl space where some Germans had died in an accident in the ealry 1900s or late 1800s. A ghost dog was there too. It was so scary, very scary, and when I moved the house we moved into had a dirt crawl space. I never went in it.

50. Nothing wrong with a friendly ghost.
I believe I may have one in the servants' quarters, which is where I've been sleeping for about seven years. It comes up and down the back stairs and at least once a week it joins me on my bed while I am trying to sleep or nap. I can feel and hear the bed sink down as if somebody is sitting next to me. It scared the crap out of me for a couple of years but now I find it comforting. Seriously. Our house was built in 1883 so it has a fair amount of benign history.

64. Leave out some milk and cookies...
and hang your stockings by the chimmeny with care. See what happens!

I've heard a ghost myself, once. It creeped me out pretty good, but I never heard it again after that.

72. We're definitely not leaving out milk and cookies
The former tenants seemed to cultivate vermin friends. They're gone now, but we want to keep it that way.

66. wait until one of them touches you
or you feel a very very very cold spot .
Just in time for Halloween:scared:

I had a ghost in my house which was built in 1903. All she ever did was walk across the antique mirror in the dining room ( it was 6' long and about 4' high-part of the original structure) when you could just see her out of the corner of your eye as you passed by. Always at night.

75. No clue -- the only history I know about the house is
that the former tenants were really dirty people, but that only accounts for last year's history.

OK, for sounding like a total loony and quotable somewhere else: Ask her/him to leave. Tell her/him that all is taken care of and that her/his presence is no longer needed and that you'll think of her/him.

89. I lived in a old house when I was in grad school and we often felt that
something was there, esp. if someone was alone - that you could almost see something out of the corner of your eye. It was creepy.

That house had what I can only call "weird energy" for some reason - my current house, which is about 105 years old, has none of that.

I always think it has something to do with the history or people who lived there over all those years....

How is the garden?

Mine is a dried up mess due to lack of rain... I have lots of bulbs I need to put in, though.

90. We're fine but busy.
The garden is fine, too. It's fall here, so maintenance comes to an end for some time, but I have bulbs to put in, too. I still have some peppers to harvest.

Otherwise, there's nothing new I guess. Time went like nuts, and it's almost Christmas again. :scared:

78. Cool!
You don't get any bad vibes do you? If not I suppose it's nothing to worry about.

I'd call TAPS. And hassle them about that hottie. :P

92. Our house is 130 years old, and we have two
'friends' in the house. They come and go. The dog and two cats see them when they are here. The couple that owned the house a long time ago, both died in the house, at different times. Kenny and Linda, both are very helpful. I dropped a necklace behind my dresser one morning before work. When I came home it was back on the top of the dresser. I thought matcom had fished it out for me, but he told me it wasn't him. Kenny used to change the channel on the TV upstairs when we were watching it, we told him to knock it off and he did. It will take a while for you to get used to them, but then you will forget they are even there! Have fun! :hi:
