I need Mondegreens from the 1970s
I need material for a book I hope to write someday. Have been accumulating thoughts, characters, backgrounds, episodes, etc., for years.

Now I need some good 70s Mondegreens. Don't know what a Mondegreen is? Misheard lyrics, like:

** there's a bathroom on the right

** it's hard to find nice things on a four-sided cow

or the pledge:

** and to the Republic for Richard stands

and the like

Hit me!

I hope you all are well. :grouphug:

mondegreen definition

n.
A series of words that result from the mishearing or misinterpretation of a statement or song lyric. For example, I led the pigeons to the flag for I pledge allegiance to the flag.

9. "Bakin' Carrot Biscuits" for "Takin' Care of Business"
"Reverend Bluejeans" for "Forever in Bluejeans."

And I'm not sure it's a mondegreen or if it's intentional, but from Blondie's "Rapture," some of us always heard what the published lyrics list as "finger-popping, 24-hour shopping rapture" as "finger-fucking 24-hour shopping rapture."

16. For me, The Immigrant Song (1970) was one mondegreen after another
"We come from the land of the ice and snow
from the midnight sun
where the hot winds blow"

"Always sleeping reaching out,
Our only doorway is to twist and shout...

"So now you'd better stop,
a wreaking all your ruin..."

I didn't learn what the REAL words were until I saw the Viking kitten version.
