Led Zeppelin to Reunite
9-Sep-2007
Written by: Jenna Horan

The three remaining members will reunite for a one time gig.

Robert Plant has confirmed that the three remaining members of the legendary band are indeed reuniting. Plant, along with Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones, have met to discuss doing a one time reunion show in London, tentatively scheduled for November. The gig will apparently be part of a charity show organized by Harvey Goldsmith. Missing will be the late John Bonham, who passed away at 32 in 1980 from asphyxiation, due to complications from alcoholism. His son, Jason Bonham, will likely take his place behind the kit for the event.

Led Zeppelin disbanded in 1980 after Bonham’s death. Plant, Page, and Jones each continued their music careers, working with a variety of artists. This will be the first reunion between the three members, as an apparent feud between Plant and Jones caused an internal rift between the remaining band members.

1. I saw Plant/Page perform a few years ago and had a great time...
They were better live in the 90's then in the 70's - Led Zeppelin used to be infamous for their so-so live performances back in the day. Should be interesting!

3. I pray that by now they have learned that "baby" is not a lyric.
And that repeating it does not make it more tenable. Like shouting in English to ferners so they'll understand better.

4. They finally remembered JPJ's phone number!
When LedZep was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Page, Plant and Jones all accepted the award together along with Bonham's son, Jason. Jones approached the mike and made the public comment when accepting, "I'd like to thank my mates (looking at Page/Plant) for remembering my phone number this time."

Something they failed to do when Plant & Page recorded 2004's Unledded.

8. Exactly
It was no secret that in the early days (before Led Zep) Page wanted to steal Keith Moon and John Entwistle from The Who.

6. I would go, but there's a little matter of money and ticket availability.

Other than that...

I've seen Zeppelin and I've seen Page and Plant, and I would continue to see them until either I die or they die, whichever comes first.

12. Seriously, I"m debating if I could somehow swing the trip
I knew of a kid who wanted to go to the Super Bowl so badly that he flew in that day, went to the Super Bowl and then went back to the airport and slept there until his morning flight left.

I'm thinking I could do that with London, save the hotel bill. But could I get a cheap flight to London and just how much are these tickets going to run me.

The concert will sell out, no question about that. The question is will these 3 guys be able to tolerate each other long enough for one concert to perhaps want to go out on a full fledge tour

No chance.

They're too busy entertaining 16 year old groupies, and performing incantations in pentagrams.

19. Wish I could swing it. There's no question they will sell out every
venue they choose to perform in. The history (in general) of bands that try and make comebacks, is that they pick up right where they left off. There really are no new beginnings. If there was bad blood when they split, time never heals the wounds. They very quickly realize why they split up in the first place.

I'm not sure about any bad blood within Zep. Page and Plant seem to get on quite well. I know I would spend whatever it took to go see them, if I could afford to. Jason Bonham is a really good fit with the guys. He's not his father, but he can handle the job. I would hope that they make a decision to tour the U.S. Then I will definitely see them.

14. Led Zeppelin without Bonham is like a ham sandwich with no bread or meat.
Just a whole lotta cheese 'n mustard (esp. with the way Plant sings these days - all flats and sharps)

15. "first reunion" - except for Live Aid
when they had Phil Collins on drums. But they seem to have hated what they did so much, they've persuaded the press to forget it happened:

Zeppelin defend Live Aid opt out

Led Zeppelin's three surviving members - Robert Plant, Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones - reunited on stage for the US leg of the giant concert in Philadelphia.

They were joined on stage by Phil Collins, replacing the late drummer John Bonham who died in 1980 after a drinking binge.
...
A statement from the members said: "Jimmy Page, Robert Plant and John Paul Jones are in absolute full support of the fundraising project for the people of Sudan.

"However, Jimmy, Robert and John Paul found that both the sound and general reproduction of their performance at Live Aid Philadelphia was sub-standard.

I think it was a smart move to keep it off the DVD. Their performance was horribly bad
