What is it, with all these "sex and Star Trek" polls!

I mean, really, even in the later Star Treks, there wasn't that much sex in it.

In fact, I've seen more implied and blatant sex on shows like "NYPD Blue," "Smallville," and others.

But whatever floats your boat, I guess.

I'm currently having a blast in a role-playing group that is a parody of Star Trek.
And you got it, lots of sex!
(Including my own character losing his virginity!) :-)

1. It's the nerdliness.

And I mean that in the kindest possible way. I'm a big trek fan going way back.

Like, for some, the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue is sexier than Playboy, although it's less explicit, since the sexuality is slyly emerging from within such a chaste, sexless environment (sports magazine).

NYPD Blue sex emerges naturally out of the gritty, real-world scenarios they're dealing with.

In Trek, you've got these adolescent, intellectual stories about alien forms of intelligence and Vulcan morals or whatever, so having a buxom blonde babe in a catsuit and high heels becomes all the more titillating.

3. My favorite modern trek...

...is Voyager.

I have a joke I've made a few times: If you had a party, and invited ALL the Trek crews, the evening would go like this. First, you'd have a dinner with the TOS crew. Oh yes...more brandy...let's talk about ethics...illogical...etc. Then they go home to bed and the real party begins. At eight o'clock ON THE DOT Riker, Geordi, and Data arrive. The party is, shall we say, a bit poor in quality, as the rest of the TNG gang arrives...Then, the real groove begins as the DS9 gang arrives. They bring a keg. Quark, Sisko, even Bashir getting down...but at Midnight the Voyager crew arrives and now you've got a party. I love those guys...what a great group of characters.

This joke pre-dates Enterprise, but I don't like Enterprise, so that's fine.
