Fashionista help requested!
Sorry- it's a bad pic. SophieMN took it, looking up and my camera's not great, but you can pretty much discern the outfit. I'm wearing the dress to my BIL's wedding this weekend. The ceremony and reception are outdoors, starting at 6 pm. The temp will probably be in the low-70's F, and dropping from there.
I need some sort of shawl or wrap. Should I look for something pink to match the trim on my dress?
What kind of shoes should I wear? I'm thinking open toe heeled/sandals, since the dress is sleeveless.
Should I stick with brown ones? Help!

1. I'm not liking the shoes,
but will heels sink into the ground at the reception?

Cute dress BTW.

3. I wouldn't wear those shoes- they're just to indicate hem length.
I'm thinking maybe platform sandals?

and thanks!

2. OK...
Those shoes, no. I'd go with an open toed sandal, with not too finely pointed of a heel, of you're going to be near grass of any kind. And a pink shawl to match the trim sounds good too. :)

4. That's what I'm thinking.
Do you think I should go with brown for shoes?

5. Is the dress brown?
It's hard to tell in the pic. It looks purply.

6. It's chocolatey-brown, yes.
I need a camera that cost more than $70.

9. You are most welcome, love...
I'm not a real fashionista, I just play one on the internet. There's a girly girl lurking somewhere inside my tomboy self. :P

But, I *am* watching Project Runway right now :D

10. you can do a variety of things, depending on what's in the stores...
but stay with the dress colors: pink shawl, pink clutch (what kind of handbag are you going to carry?) and pink shoes, or any mix of pink and chocolate brown - you might find a beautiful chocolate shawl, and use a pink handbag and sandals to pick up the dress' trim. Or you might find a pink shawl, and a nice cocoa-brown handbag (the bag should be 'delicate' - nothing heavy) and shoes.

If you are going to be on grass, you could look for shoes with a delicate wedge heel - that might keep you from sinking into the grass but still allow you to wear heels. Wedges tend to be thicker/chunkier, though, so one with a slim heel might be hard to find....

11. Here's my two cents: I vote for a brown shawl.
I think a brown shawl would give the outfit a more cohesive look. It's ummm.... brown-pink-brown-pink-brown-pink seems rather boy-girl-boy-girl, salt-pepper-salt-pepper, yada yada.

I say monochrome the brown and brighten it up with pink flashes - rather than equal doses of brown/pink. Super dress, btw. Nice lines.

Some girlish pink floral/beaded/rhinestone gewgaws in your hair would be Fine in your shiny brown locks.

12. Small open-toed shoes
Similar to these in brown, and maybe a bit of heel or small wedge.
?wid=230&hei=331&qlt=95&op_sharpen=1

And your purse doesn't have to match your shoes,

As for a wrap, maybe something that's between a shawl and a cape. One that's a bit warmer than the average shawl, but gives you the option to casually drape one end over your shoulder like this woman is doing:

A shawl similar to this
(and it's OK for th epink to be darker than the pink on your dress:

Gotta say, that is one very pretty dress you have! :hi:

14. You need thin strapped heels to set the dress off properly.
You have great legs but those shoes don't do a thing for you. Maybe you should save them for jeans.

16. Get a brown strappy sandal and a brown shawl
I think the pink shawl would be a tad on the garish side.

17. Pink shawl
Edited on Tue Aug-14-07 11:26 AM by huskerlaw
chocolate-brown strappy sandals, with a heel.

:hi:

On edit: about the shawl...I think it depends on what type of wedding it will be. If it's ultra-formal or conservative, I'd go with a brown shawl. Otherwise, I think the right pink would set it off nicely, though that may be hard to find.

18. Shoes: Light pink metallic/matte leather slingback or strappy sandals
Something like this:

For a wrap, try either a lightweight pink pashmina. If it's lacy or has a touch of sparkle, so much the better! :)

19. laura, i think i would stick with that chocolate brown color --
a light weight shawl
shoes for out doors? in the grass, i would go with a wedge. if not in the grass then a strappy heel will be fine.

pink accents in the hair and for a purse...

well, anyway that is what i would do:shrug:

are you wearing any jewelry with the outfit?

20. For shoes, go with an open-toed brown shoe with a leg wrap...
Edited on Tue Aug-14-07 04:10 PM by SteppingRazor
the leg wrap will pair nicely with the diagonal stripe of the dress.

On edit: Oh, and go with a pink shawl. With brown heels and dress, a dark shawl will be too much. A light one will make the dress pop.

Also on edit: Hmm ... I appear to be the only man offering advice here. Take whatever I say with a grain of salt. ;)

21. What is it Victoria Beckman said: "if you are showing the girls don't
show the knees". In your case you have a lovely summer dress so I would go conservative with the shoes......nothing too strappy or too high. You look great.
