I have recently decided to adopt a new affectation.
Henceforth, I shall be pronouncing the word "wont"
identically to "won't".

I'm adopting this affectation for reasons of no
particular interest to anyone but myself- as is
my wont.

That is all.

1. Duly noted.
I fully understand. I, too, am toying with the idea of adopting a new affectation. It's too hot for opera gloves, so I'm considering a monacle.

2. Monocle, eh?
I was wondering when someone would get around
to bringing those back into style.

11. I think a monocle
and a tattered-edged burnoose would be a good look. It's the combination of unexpected elements that will get you noticed.

15. It's too hot here for a burnoose!

Otherwise, I'd have opted for the opera gloves.

Hey, I love your username! I visited a Kewpie Doll Museum when I was a kid. I think it was in Arkansas. _Very cool_. :hi:

21. I can't. That would be contradictory to my other affectation:
not eating any food that's off-white. :P

12. Personally, if I were you...
I'd move that part in my hair a bit to the right,
to better balance the composition. As is my wont.

13. Thank you. I had not considered the hair-part issue.
Too, a part in the middle tends to make one's face appear over-broad. Can't have that. :scared:

a white silk smoking jacket to complement your ascot?

8. I adopted an affectation some time ago
I decided I would be Pleased With Things instead of Happy About Them. It has really worked out very well, and has stuck with me. I am quite pleased.

34. That sounds like a good one, but I doubt it would work for me.
That would require that I be happy about something
in the first place. And, lets face it: that's not
gonna happen.

10. I find affectations a distraction from the point I'm trying to make...
So, I avoid them at all costs.

Um, I really -NEED- this walking stick... Under Doctor's orders... Really...

19. I find that rather gauche
And please note that my affectation is to pronounce the word "gauche" as "gosh." I feel it raises my sophistication level immeasurably.

As affectations go, that's a pretty good one. I may
occasionally see fit to borrow it without attribution.

29. Well, IMO, nothing says "affected" like carrying a swagger stick!
Of course, you'll have to spring for proper swaggering lessons,
but the final result should be well worth the effort.

31. I suppose I should offer this disclamer, before this THREAD bursts into flame:
That was -NOT- intended as a comment upon Hillary,
'twas a comment upon GD. I would have made the same
wisecrack no matter the candidate involved.

Now, that being said...please don't hurt me! :hide:
