Pipe dreams....
I go back and forth and lately I've been on the 'pipe dream' side of a few of my goals. When you're stuck and frustrated and feeling, oh I dunno, pretty useless...what do you do to snap out of it?

1. I sell all my stuff and relocate to a new state.
Yeppir- nothing like starting over again from scratch to refocus your priorities.

And yes, I actually HAVE done exactly that.

4. There have been times...
but I can't. And if I did, I think I'd be miserable. I KNOW I would be. I do need to refocus, though. It's just getting through all the dreck to do it.

:(

2. Sorry, I was about ready to comeback with
some smartass crack about eating chicken gizzards and making me happy. But in reality when I find myself frustrated with something as big as that it's best for me to put it aside and deal with other things for awhile. Sometimes this is when your dreams will tell you what to do if you remember any of them, or be aware of signs or guideposts.

Well I have the gizzards too. ;-)

5. Heh...I cut up three chickens the other day
I've got a baggie full of gizzards in the freezer.

Thanks.

6. I need to figure out
where I left my confidence. That's been missing for a while and then, a week ago, I got knocked down again (which really didn't do much to help). Without confidence, well...it's hard.

8. I hear ya!
Lately I feel like a damn Weeble. -smack- in face.. I roll a little bit and stand back up for another -smack-

Confidence is definitely a factor. I'm taking a different approach I picked up in some alcohol class.

"Keep swinging back! It works if you work it!

We'll see...

9. If you're trying to do something potentially dangerous, then
you need confidence. However, if you aren't trying to do something potentially dangerous, then why do you need confidence? Isn't hope good enough?

10. Sometimes confidence is everything, even when it's not a particularly dangerous dream.
I write...and I've really been having a tough time lately. My confidence is shot all to hell. And not even by rejection. I'd have to ship it out for it to be rejected and I can't even bring myself to ship anything out, not even older stuff. And anything new?

Just ain't workin'.

11. My advice: ship out all the older stuff and then wait.

If some of it is accepted, then your confidence will be boosted. If none of it is accepted, then you can keep in mind that you have probably learned a lot since then.

Practical point: you might get educational comments, regardless of whether it is accepted or rejected.

Recall that Kilgore Trout's science fiction was published only in porn magazines. Submit your work far and wide.

12. Sound and rational advice.
And it's what I've been telling myself for months. I've done it before and gotten past the hurdle. So why is it so hard to do this time? I wish I knew what changed.

13. Just do it.
We're talking about clerical work, not writing.

14. Ooooh...I like that difference.
And that's true...I hadn't thought of it like that.
