My heart is broken more than usual
As the mother of a volunteer fire fighter
my heart breaks for the families in South Carolina

9 heroes dead... 9 brave souls
yes I know its their job or their decision to become Firefighters
but it also takes courage and conviction......

My thoughts and prayers are with the families, the community
and the firehouses.......

3. It's so tragic
A firefighter from here was recently killed in a plane crash (he worked a second job as a transplant specialist; plane carrying the medical team and donor lungs crashed which is a whole other tragic story); the photos of firefighters saluting outside the station with the empty boots and hat make me cry every time I see them.

4. How terribly sad
I knew a lot of volunteer firefighters back in Vermont - it takes a lot of guts to run into something that everyone else is running out of. Heroes indeed. :patriot:

5. Tragic story. Why do we most often recognize true heroes when they die? nt
