Poppy Tea. Discuss.
Edited on Fri Jun-01-07 11:16 AM by Taverner
I think you know what I mean:

I had some last night. Not too strong, but strong enough. Man. Oh man. Lady Papaver is my new girlfriend :)

1. How'd it taste?
I think you may have found a loophole. I know that you can grow poppies legally, you just can't "harvest" the bulb thingy or whatever it is.

2. There are many loopholes there :)
It tasted awful, but you're drinking alkaline so what do you expect?

Poppy tea is illegal, yes - but growing the poppy is not, and neither is cutting it out to dry it. Making the tea, well :)

But the nice thing is that the tea is nowhere as strong as other forms of opiates.

8. Yes I heard that too
Many floral shops sell the dried poppies as well.

Drugs are nature's hugs :)

6. It is - my rule is never two days in a row
As well as never more than 3x in a week.

It is addictive, if anything because of the experience: 1 hour into it and the codeine hits. You feel very mellow, like you just had a glass of wine or beer. 2 1/2 hours into it the morphine hits, and you feel this surge of pleasure, not unlike an orgasm, overcoming your entire body. This lasts an hour and then you go back to that mellow state again. It's very nice, and I can see wanting to feel that way ALL of the time.

10. Um, yeah
I know - more specifically the warming part of the orgasm. The part where your whole body feels this warm rush for about an hour.

13. Only if your poppies are Papaver Somniferum
California Poppies have some relaxing effects, but are not narcotic. Papaver Setigerum, the ancestor to the Somniferum Poppy, can also produce narcotics.

16. There was an article in Harpers about 8 years ago about this...the
author said it was like "wrapping your brain in a silk scarf." I have been wanting to try it ever since...but I'm too afraid I'd like it too much..I have, however saved the article..
