1. He's, like, still alive?
I thought he was on ice with Langston Hughes, David Brenner, The Sonny & Cher Show, "The Funny Side," the Heywoods, the Hudson Brothers, the DeFranco Family, and Pink Lady and Jeff!

Will wonders never cease.

Oh, damn it! There it goes again!

Girl, when I'm alone with you
I get a feelin' through and through
Tellin' me that love is comin' on

My head starts spinnin' round and round
I don't care what's up or down
'Cause deep in my soul
I'm out of control
When I start to hear that sound

Oh, a heartbeart, it's a lovebeat
And a lovebeat, is a good vibration ...

3. Don't blow shi* on Gary Mule Deer
He was freaking hilarious, in his day.

I remember this shtick where he played "Folsom Prison Blues" on his guitar using Doritoes for picks. It was damned hilarious. I cried real tears of laughter.

But maybe you had to be there...

5. OMG! He's hilarious!
I was thinking about him a while ago. I assumed he'd left entertainment a decade or more ago.

I love the bit where he tells a joke, then runs off-stage into the audience and yells "That sucked!" then quickly back on stage to say "Yeah, that's what I thought."

And his rubber chicken stuff.

I have a video I recorded way back in the late 80s, when Comedy Central just started, of Gary at a comedy club. I loved watching that thing over and over. It was always funny. A real genius of comedic timing and the absrud.

6. his letterman performance just made me 12 years old
I haven't even thought about him in years. That was something. I thought he was pretty funny. I was surprised he had so much hair.
