Would you rather be cold or hot?
It's 45 outside right now (11:30 pm) and headed towards 41. It's about 60 inside the house and I'm wearing a sweatshirt.

I'm enjoying it because I know the hot days (90+) are just around the corner.

1. Cold
I think I can put on enough clothes to be warm...though last winter's event of several days no power near freezing outside -- did put me to the test....

6. It depends on the season
If it's spring/summer, I tend to say that I prefer cold weather. If it's fall/winter, I say that warm weather is better. I think I just like complaining about the weather.

7. If 45F constitutes 'cold',
then yeah, I'd rather it be that than 100!

If we're talking the temperatures in my area; where hot would be 35C/90ishF, or cold -30C/-25ishF, I'll take the heat. ;)

I generally wilt in too hot temperatures, but too cold - while I don't wilt in it - sucks any ounce of heat from me for days. It can often take me a few days to warm up after being in such cold weather - even being surrounded by heat.

Minus twenty and below are bearable.

11. Well, we haven't seen -20 or even -10 F
in several years, though it's not unheard of. At those temps internal combustion engines get cranky and my nose hairs freeze almost immediately.

That I can so without. But triple digits just drain the energy out of me. I once experienced 118 degrees in Jeddah, SA and it was even worse given that I had to wear long sleeves and pants in order to conform with their customs. And that town lies on the Red Sea. I can't imagine what it must be like in the interior where it frequently reaches 130. Closest to hell I've ever been.

But given a choice between 100 and say, zero, I will take zero any time.

51. I can't do double digits, either
0 in my language is -17, and that's not a problem at all.

This winter we saw a lot of -30s, with the wind chills in the mid -40's (the latter would be -50's down south), and could do without that.

Either way, I don't like extreme temperatures. I do like having four seasons, though.

there are only so many articles of clothing you can take off to cool down...and there is something to be said about being snuggled up in a blanket.

But in reality, I'd rather be comfortable because I complain about the weather quite often

26. Hot, no question.
I know people say "Gee, if you're cold you can always put on more clothes," but that presupposes you have an endothermic metabolism to begin with. Doesn't matter how many layers I mummify myself in, nothing works. I'd much rather be "too hot," if there even is such a thing. During the daytime, I can't really get "too hot." I'll admit that there are times at night during the height of summer that I'm uncomfortably warm trying to sleep, but I'll still take that over the alternative.

48. TOO Hot sucks, but TOO COLD sucks worse
I remember that one winter in "Grafenwhore"-(Our slang and no I have no clue how to spell it properly),-Germany. I have never been a religious man but I was strongly moved to tell God: "Never EVER will you hear me complain about the heat of summer if you'll just get me through this!" My toes were in severe pain for the first week, my fingers could hardly grasp a thing for the thirty days we camped there. It would have been better if the Army let me pick out warmer clothes but of course that was not about to happen. Yes there are far colder places...you can have them. That winter was over thirty years ago and ya know what? I have not complained about the hot summers anywhere yet! (I hope my complaints against Global Warming aren't held against me)

50. I am no big fan of heat either but that winter...
...still haunts my dreams. Our maintenance tent, (big enough to park 4 tanks in) was not secured to the ice well enough and blew off in a storm one night taking a fellow mech with it!

I suppose I should not complain...The closest I got to the Middle East was when Nixon almost sent us to fight the Egyptians as the Viet Nam War was winding down. Fortunately things did not get worse there and Tricky Dick got forced from office. I hope history repeats itself here.

btw. I see you have a picture of Joe Lieberman...I did not know he was running for President. I wonder if he is pretending to be a Dem or a Repug. Well I hope he stays Independent and gets less votes than Nader with all those votes coming from disenfranchised kool-aid drinkers

I have lived my entire life in Alabama. its 10:40 am and about 78 degrees outside, not bad, comfy. But being hot sucks, temperature wise atleast, it is much easier to heat up than cool down. But down here it can be 85 and feel like 105 because of the soup we call air.
