19. I really like my username. However, nobody knows what to call me when they address me.

I get 'Dream', 'IHAD', 'I Have A Dream', and 'Hey you'. That's the only negative that I've found in reference to my username.

It's my fault because it's not really a name, per se.

Somehow I didn't notice when I put a bonus E on the end of Awsi and then registered on DU. I had to live with that gaffe for a couple of years before Skinner allowed a brief window for everyone to change.

You can't imagine how stupid I felt every time I logged in and looked at my name botched by me. It refers to the name of my dog Awsi, BTW, an apricot poodle who lived to nearly age 16 in 2005.

I used my actual name. I like my name and with a last name of "Smith" you're still somewhat anonymous (just look up "Gloria Smith" and "Austin" in the phone book and you'll find over 40 people!). There are times when I wish I would have chosen something completely different...usually when I'm feeling extra bitchy while visiting GD.

On the other hand, I think not hiding behind a fake name or some weird user name actually gives a little more validity to my more important posts. There's something strangely empowering about backing up your words with your real name. Hard to describe.

I am a relative new-bee when it comes to computers...I had been online for less than a week when I got one of those phony e-mails complaining that our government was about to levy a user tax on all e-mails. I fell for it hook line and sinker! This chicken-little must have passed this along to dozens of folks with my attached self righteous indignation. MOST of my congress-critters chose NOT to respond to me about my concerns! Boy was I embarrassed when I found out that it was merely a prank!
