Hospice: Day 1
My friend L has deteriorated so far it has become necessary to call hospice in to help. These ladies are the absolute best! They are kind and caring, and very good at this sort of thing. At one point there was 3 people taking care of her. A nurse, counselor, and a home health aide. There was also a nurse with her over night.

It's comforting to know that we're not alone in this. I think it is something that we needed, someone to tell us that what we feel is normal, that what she's feeling is normal. It doesn't make the ending any easier to take, though.

1. I'm sorry about your friend
but I've had experience with hospice people, and they are, if such a thing exists, angels.

5. I didn't want my friend to go to Hospice but when she did I was happy
She got the best care! We all gathered to her there and took part in sharing her last days, talking with her until she was deeply ready to go, and then we just sat with her and breathed with her.

It is a relieving experience you will see. When it is over you will be glad your friend was there...

7. my sister is a hospice nurse
She switched to that kind of nursing after my dad died and his hospice nurses were so good to all of us.

They are angels and my sister is one of the best. I don't know how she does it but thank God people like her do!

Sorry for your friend and your pain.

9. I am so sorry
You are, without a doubt, as good as friends come.

I, gratefully, can only imagine how horribly difficult this must be.
My heart just breaks for you both.

I am wishing the easiest possible time for you and for your friend. .

12. I'm so sorry, OhioLiberal.
I went through that with my father.

He died almost 10 years ago ( 4/20/97)
from pancreatic cancer.

They are a godsend.

Still, it's very hard to go through.

You and your friend are in my thoughts and prayers.

13. I'm a hospice volunteer visitor and I can assure you L is in good hands.
Hospice is an amazing organization to be a part of. It's a deep privilege for me, personally, to be of service in this way.
Blessings to her on her journey.
Peace be with you.
