Two things I like:
Edited on Fri Mar-23-07 11:11 PM by MJDuncan1982
1) Billy Currington's "Good Directions". Georgia singer and the song has a tinge of Buffett.

2) The new Gap commercial. My fiancee loves it and I gotta admit...I like it too.

I'm having a personal crisis so I thought I'd share what makes me happy right now...maybe someone here cares.:)

Edit: The usual, ma'am.

1. I don't know Billy Currington and I haven't seen the commercial.
But if you're happy, I'm happy. :pals:

2. Thanks crim son. :) It's a country song. And the commercial
is very classic.

3. Lyrics...in case you're interested:)
Edited on Fri Mar-23-07 11:18 PM by MJDuncan1982
I was sittin’ there sellin’ turnips on a flatbed truck
Crunchin’ on a pork rind when she pulled up
She had to be thinkin’ “This is where rednecks come from”
She had Hollywood written on her license plate
She was lost and lookin’ for the interstate
Needin’ directions and I was the man for the job

(Chorus)

I told her way up yonder past the caution light
There’s a little country store with an old Coke sign
You gotta stop in and ask Miss Bell for some of her sweet tea
Then a left will take you to the interstate
But a right will bring you right back here to me

I was sittin’ there thinkin’ ‘bout her pretty face
Kickin’ myself for not catchin’ her name
I threw my hat and thought, “You fool, coulda been love”
I knew my old Ford couldn’t run her down
She probably didn’t like me anyhow
So I watched her disappear in a cloud of dust.

(Chorus)

I told her way up yonder past the caution light
There’s a little country store with an old Coke sign
You gotta stop in and ask Miss Bell for some of her sweet tea
Then a left will take you to the interstate
But a right will bring you right back here to me

Is this Georgia heat playin’ tricks on me
Or am I really seein’ what I think I see
The woman of my dreams comin’ back to me

She went way up yonder past the caution light
Don’t know why, but somethin’ felt right
When she stopped in and asked Miss Bell for some of her sweet tea
Mama gave her a big ‘ol glass and sent her right back here to me

Thank God for good directions…and turnip greens

5. And I must add: Norah Jones singing "Tennessee Waltz"
Anyone interested in that back story...I'll be happy to tell it.

Makes me smile:)

14. Ya Know
I graduated from grad school
got a job
moved
started the job

got married

all in the first 4 months after graduating... it is stressful... just know that things will work out the way they can and usually do if you put the effort out for it.

(now don't ask me where I am 17 years later  but things smoothed out over the first year and it just takes time.)

10. What's up?
You ok? You can PM me if you like.

What makes me happy--something I saw today: My son riding his bike with all of the enthusiasm in the world on a green spring day.

Also knowing that my son bought the bike with money he had worked for and saved...

Just kinda makes me feel happy. :)

 Hope all is well with you.

12. Thanks Maddy. I was so proud of Jackson this week:
1) Students at MC protested the anti-homosexual policy, and

2) The state fire departments drove around the capital, REPEATEDLY (the law school is right next door and we thought Osama was on the march), to force the legislature to increase funding.

I'm good...just a bit stressed. We all need obstacles to prove to ourselves that we can overcome them. I have more than average at the same time but I can take it...and I have no doubt that I'll rise and be better.:)

P.S. I missed the Sweet Potatoes...:(

15. I missed them too!
Had some crazy stuff going on here at home last weekend. x(

I didn't know about the FDs hitting the capital. Dang, I'd loved to have been a part of that. I bet it was fun to watch. :D

Yeah, the thing at MC with the protesters...I read about that today in the CL. I knew that MC was conservative, but I didn't know that they had that policy. How archaic!

I'm still sayin' that we need to get a Mississippi thing going sometime. Maybe one weekend this summer we can have a meet-up at the Golden Moon on the Rez.

Best wishes with all that you're facing. The most difficult time of my life was my doctoral comps...I thought I would pull my hair out. While I was preparing, some nights I'd go outside and literally SCREEEAAAMMMM! (Good thing I have no neighbors, eh?) I don't know where you are on your preps right now, but take a little "mental health time" every so often just to get away from the books and from anything that looks like a book...I still can't watch the History Channel without feeling nauseated. :)

I'll do all I can to drive up soon...I'll certainly let you know when I might be heading up, so we can see if our scheds work out.

13. Sounds like good things
if they make you happy.

Must Be Doing Something Right is my favorite Billy Currington song.

I hope your personal crisis is resolved soon. :)

16. Thanks Nicole...it's mainly a product of me being unable/unwilling
to grow up at the rate that I know I should.

As I said before: Thank God, for "Good Directions", Twain, Hemingway and Buffett...
