1. Yes but you will need a step down converter
kinda like an external D/A box, no prices yet

2. From what I understand, the old TV's won't work. I was just
bitching about this the other day. I personally don't give a rat's ass about TV and don't care if I don't have one in the house, but hubby is a big TV fan and I KNOW we will be shelling out big bucks for one of these goddamn monstrosities. He says the price will be down by then, but I disagree -- it will be higher than hell, because anyone who wants to watch TV will be forced to buy. Since when has that predicament ever forced DOWN the price of anything??? Grrrrrr.

5. If you watch only DVDs and VHS tapes, current TVs are okay
You just don't get any broadcast stuff.

That's okay, it's all fascist propaganda anyway. :D

I'm not paying into it.

3. I believe digital cable boxes will suffice.
Of course, that means if you don't already have cable, you'll have to get it.

From what I understand, the digital tuner is for over-the-air signals, which will begin to be all-digitial by 2007.

It wouldn't surprise me if that date got extended sometime in the next two years.

4. I agree the date will be pushed back
Even the corps that own the stations can't afford the equipment. Huge problems right now among PBS stations, NO MONEY to buy the transmission equipment. And the entire AIR CHAIN, cameras to switchers to xmitters must be revamped.
