2. I can't read the link, but...
...welcome to my world. I'm an avid Four Wheeler (and I practice "Tread Lightly", by the way). Most of the 'wheelers I communicate with in the US are hard-core repups. Even a majority of Canadian wheelers are somewhat RW, but nowhere near as extreme as the US ones. It's pretty ingrained in the culture, I think...

4 wheeling = camping = big trucks = hunting = guns = right wing standards. (no offense to DUers who own guns, hunt, or whatever--you know the stereotype I'm talking about).

Even the mainstream magazines which service the 'wheeling culture, such as it is, are choc-a-block with politicised editorials, ads for guns, the Armed Forces, and whatnot.

WHatcha gonna do? I'm not going to give up my hobbies because of these weeds.

3. Ha ha! Idiots!! (and a link you don't need to cut and paste)
link

While I think it's cool the guy tried to go over the snowbank and whatnot, I say idiots only for thinking they could attach the tow cable around the VW's windshield. What a maroon.

Otherwise, I did something similar with my dad's Jeep Wagoneer when I was in college, thinking, "It's four wheel drive - I should be able to park it in a foot of snow". Took my friends and I a good half hour or forty-five minutes to not just shovel out the snow underneath, but a 15-20 foot path into the clear section of the parking lot. :-)
