College admissions letters
Something came in the mail from my daughters #1 college choice and she is at work until 8. Is it a good sign that its an 8 1/2 X 11 envelope with a folder inside?

2. Clearly, yes.
Just don't let the envelope get near, for instance, steam ;)

Only for a few minutes.

5. Yes, it sounds like a yes.
The rejection letters are just letters, no additional materials.

Hope it's what it seems to be! Keep us posted!

6. It's either good or neutral news.
Good: "You're accepted! Here's all of the information you need!"
Neutral: "Thank you for your application! Here's the information you might need if we decide to accept you!"

FWIW, both my acceptance to law school and my scholarship information came in thin white envelopes, so thin doesn't always mean rejection -- but thick NEVER means rejection. Unless admissions officers have become that sadistic since I applied to undergrad.

8. Rejections and wait-list letters...
...come in regular envelopes, I'm told. I can only think that this is good news.

10. SHES IN!!!
I posted it in another thread.
She'll be in fashion design at Mt Ida in Mass. We're very happy for her and think she will do really well at a small school. Our son is at Northeastern so both kids will be in the Boston area.

11. Wow, congratulations!
I remember not getting my first choice (or my second, had to go with my third) and remember well how it felt, so I was actually worried for her last night. I'm really happy for you and her.

12. I think what helped her is that she submitted a portfolio
The school doesn't require it but it is suggested.
Plus being really small school they remember people. We visited the school and went to one of the portfolio days.

A couple of things she has made
Camo skirt

Robot cocktail dress

13. I like the skirt.
The robot thing isn't my speed, but it sure is creative. Besides, if a fortysomething curmudgeon like me doesn't like it, it should be a big hit with today's youth. :)

Tell her that a stranger from Maryland you don't even know contratulates her :hi:

15. Yeah!!!!
My daughter applied at Mount Ida but decided to go to Emmanuel. (so she could be closer to Jason Varitek :)Mount Ida is a great, great school. Pass on my congrats to your daughter. My son just got his acceptance letter today to Maine Martime and he might be playing football there. We couldn't be more pleased. Does your son like Northeastern? Our daughter is thinking about transferring there because she thinks she wants to major in marketing, which Emmanuel only offers a minor in.

Thanks for sharing such great news!

16. Good luck to your son
Northeastern has been a mixed bag. My son is a musician and he finds it hard to stop and start his music projects to match the 6 months on/6 months off schedule of Northeastern. I think in a different program where internships are prevelant, and would help after graduation, it would be a good thing.
