Soft, soft for the DU Lounge: Sweet night vespers.
Rachmaninoff. Vespers. Too good to be true. Listen and learn.

1. Rachminoff is Rockingham....
Sorry, this made me think of a college production my sister was in the chorus on (many, many moons ago) of Bells Are Ringing.

It's a simple little system, that we are impatient to begin....

Gods, I was in my teens at the time.

2. You might like this as well
It's not Rachmaninoff, but there is a service broadcast every Sunday night on the local classical station from 9:30-10:00, Compline. It is the blessing I wait for each week. It's Gregorian chants and a lesson from a cavernous local cathedral. If you ever want to stay up half the night to listen to it, we're on Pacific time, and it can be found at http://www.king.org. More information is at http://www.saintmarks.org/Music/compline.html

We're lucky enough to have one of the greatest classical stations in the country here.

Julie

3. Thanks JulieRB
I love Gregorian, but, like you said, it is not Rachmaninoff. I am so in awe of the cords of Rachmaninoff, that I can't contemplate that other music.

4. I am so grateful for the friend that first introduced me to classical music
when I was in high school. It's hard to explain to anyone who doesn't listen to or care for it how it moves the soul.

I just pulled up Sonata No. 2 in B Flat, Op. 36 Allegro Agitato, Non Allegro, Allegro Molto, played by Rachmaninoff on Rhapsody. It's amazing.

Julie

p.s. I hope some day you'll tune into KING-FM. I think you'll enjoy it!
