5. Here's an update on the most recent incident.
"Canadian pairs skater Jessica Dube returned to the rink Friday night to watch the men's free
skate, a day after having surgery to repair lacerations to her left cheek and nose".

6. Oh fuck...
I was expecting a neck sliced by a blade on a skate. Falling from 8 feet is not that bad. I do it every day.

That is bad.

9. Worse is when Clint Malurchuck got his jugular cut with a sharp skate blade
during a pro hockey game.

WARNING - extremely disturbing video

14. According to Wikipedia...
He's currently goaltending coach for the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Luckily, the Sabres' team doctor had been a medic in Vietnam, so he knew how to handle a wound like that. Malarchuk was back on the ice in a couple of weeks.

16. that was a right horror
and had it not been for a very aware and fleet-footed trainer (who was on the ice heading for him before the whistle was blown) he probably wouldn't have lived.

11. Two of them looked bad
The woman in red, falling from a lifted position, head hitting ice, that's gotta be dangerous.

And, the first one, woman's face meets her partner's skate blade. Hopefully no eye damage.

All the rest looked like "normal" falls, no harm done (other than bruised ego).
