just a little *RANT*
I am *so* sick of QC'ing other people's work. I've been training people at work virtually non-stop since... I dunno, March of '05 or so. Two of those people are no longer even on my team... one's gone on to lead her own team (good for her, bad for me) and one left, because she was poor at the job and it didn't suit her, and training didn't go well with anyone she worked with.

I know that's just how it goes, but... GAH!! Sick of checking work over 100% since I can't trust them to do it correctly, when I could have done it myself, faster, correctly, done. It would have taken less time than it takes me to check over other people's work. I know that that's not feasible, but some days, I really, really wish I could just tell some members of my team to take the week off, and I'd handle their workload.

Do you have to train anyone where you work?

1. I am convinced, when you are training someone, you need a 24 hour workday
8 to show the trainee how to do their job, 8 to go back and do the job the right way, and 8 to get your own work done.

4. Ah, yes.
Can I petition for a few extra hours per day? Half for work, half for sleeping, and half to have fun!

7. You can petition, but the likely answer is no!

2. No but I have in the past and i hate it
I really admire people who can do it without going crazy. I'd rather just do it all myself and not have the bother but that kind of defeats the purpose, I guess.

5. Yup, same here.
I have a hard time delegating, but I'm forcing myself to learn it. x(

3. I have to sometimes and it normally takes me 5 minutes to do :
Either you get it or you don't. If I can figure everything out , you can too - its call TAKING THE DAMN INIATIVE !

Lately at my job , we have had work on top of work pounded on top of us. And what makes it so bad is that the system goes down while we are working and there is not a set time that the system comes back up . So either we the work done or we don't. I am not killing myself for the person who pounds work on us for no reason when it could be done in a smoother way rather than trying to kill us in and make us do it in one day. Are you f------ killing me ? And we are short staffed beyond wtf. I hate in the meetings being told that what I have to do has to be done by tomorrow at noon and then 2 hours later you tell me to forget it and work on something else. I gave up caring a long time ago because these people are nuts. I am going back to school and then ASAf------P I am working for myself and by myself. I am tired of cleaning up other people's mistakes. Especially when its one minute to clock out time and you knew something needed fixing 4 hours ago ?!?!?!?! B---- please.

6. Sorry things are so bad, CP
My job, unfortunately, requires extensive training for 3-12 months, no two ways about it. So.... it's just something we all have to do. Still, bah!

I hope things get better for you at work, soon!

8. I've helped people out from time to time
Mostly by showing them where to find the window envelopes, because for some reason they're cached away in a Cheney-esque "secure location" on the back of the shelf behind the box of regular envelopes. I guess it never occurs to people to look behind the first box. I can't make fun though, it didn't occur to me.
